I,m not against 1/8 th mile . I would run what ever the track delegates . but most vintage drags are 1/4 at the tracks I go to ..77.

230 mph in 1/8th mile!!! Man that's smoking!!!
I'm glad to see the new track is doing well.
I was really hoping to make it up there for a race this year. I'll try again next year.

1/8 mile is interesting for the fans and a lot easier on the machines. I've been to KOTN a few times this season and it's a nice track , great staff , and fairly close to home.

I also enjoy the 1/4 mile races where guys can unleash the full potential of their machines. Nothing like watching 6 second 1/4 mile runs. Many of the new tracks now have switched from 1/4 miles to 1000 foot runs (or 1/8th mile).

Anyone heard the new rumors flying around about the Sudbury track? And no I'm not talking about the one that the Sudbury District Motorsports Association having been trying to get going.

I guess implants and 1/8 mile strips have something in common. They're "OK", but it's not the real thing.

Kinda like the Daytona 250

Or the Indianapolis 250

Or half way up pikes peak

Or New york to St luis Cannon ball run

Or building half a car

Just sayin

I worded it wrong. Many of the southern US tracks have switched from 1/4 mile (1320 ft) to 1000ft ..... if they don't build the new 1000 foot tracks , they build 1/8th mile.

I had posted a fastest ET of 3.8 seconds, that is incorrect, it was a run of 3.4 seconds @ 230MPH.
Just a point of interest, the guy that ran that was only the 3rd guy in the world to run over the 300MPH mark.
Excellent feedback from him yesterday concerning the track after the run, he was enthusiastic how good the track was, smooth as a pool table, not a bump. And the people up here were great, they were treated royaly, and he is definetly comming back next year.

Who was the third to run over 300 M.P.H.? Kenny Bernstein was the first and no one has done it in the 1/8

Bob, Smack Smith was the 3rd one, not sure who the second one was.?

Can't remember now what his 60ft time was but it was less than a second.

Good thing the season is winding down as both the nitro engine and his son's alcohol engine are getting tired. Leak down tests showed compression all over the place.
Interesting guy to talk with and he had some unusual tools being from England that he had brought over with him. (Unusual brands not seen here, even the Snap On's were a bit different.)
