Dans in the picture Mark. (Danno's Black Heart Design ) To avoid future confusion  to the easily confused insert the word  anal so there will be no mistaking  who you are referring to.

Good seeing you and the rest of the crew. Other then hemi kev , other then being some what YELLOW he's OK maybe

didn't think I was going to make it...at about 6 a.m..hit black ice on a bridge outside Janices hometown but got it straightened out and continued on with caution .Was looking for a half dozen certain things but didn't find anything I was looking for, bought a couple of carb spacers.. so that was a little disappointing..covered it all in a couple of hours....was home by 4....Saw a cool red 53/54 ford gasser in the car parking..anybody know anything about it? I thought the price was fair on it. Saw a neat orange slightly customised van heading north on the way back..and came upon a nasty accident just outside Gravenhurst...in the south bound lanes...looked like a rig went through the guard rails and down a steep embankment pretty far...traffic was backed up a couple of miles..other than that it was a good day..

grumps..was that a Model A, or T...I saw it on the trailer with a $5500. oo tag on it ...it was nice and the price was good...as for the 20 or 30 year ..I dunno, I honestly think it will be before that...you are right about today being able to buy something stupid fast brand new...but,imo, wheres the fun and pride in that..there was also a 37 chevy coupe on a trailer there..looked to have had some money spent on the chassis and brakes..some new patches tacked on, the car was dented up pretty good and the guy wasn't trying to hide anything except the price,,there was none and nobody around to get info from..that there is enough to make someone walk away...Rims, I agree,,lots of deals on them,,others, I could order brand new from summit for a little less than the asking price...depends what you are looking for I guess,,,I've learned over the years when buying used wheels you have to be cautious,,I've got what I thought were smoking deals only to find they were bent ..take into concideration the wheels I look for are for drag racing....also, you mention the $100,000.00 hotrods...even if I had the money to buy one of that price I wouldn't...that kind of money for a driver is ridiculous...The prices some guys are asking for Model A coupes with a shiny small block in them are also ridiculous...I blame that on these idiotic tv shows ...both Canadian and American on that...and that is whats ruining our hobby..and sending it in a downward spiral.

Who's finished car did she sit in? I see a lot of finished cars with fenders, hood, bumpers etc...

I was going to ask, kinda looked like a "FOR SALE" sign, leaning on the drivers side frame rail, in one of the pics.

You going to have your other project running/driving next spring?

Looks like you all had a great day!

A lot of guys had good prices on their stuff....intakes,,heads etc...then there are the usual guys who don't realise they are at a swap meet..selling,rather, trying to sell new stuff at above shop prices..or their used stuff at a buck or two less than new....and then you get the ones who found something in the bush, dragged it out , thinking it's gotta be worth something ..there was a lot of people leaving empty handed when we got there and when leaving there was also quite a few carrying nothing....one thing I really noticed, and my son also pointed out...there was only a handful of young people there looking around...the rest ...well..were older...

We must have been at the other end....as I saw many people carting stuff out

I know of one guy that bought a $5000 modle t there...good shape original...

I will post a picture of the rims I bought tomorrow...Smokin deal

As for not to many young people...pretty typical.

Unless they were with there father (who is a rodder) most young (16-25) are into rice rockets and hondas with Fart cans

Why build a car when they can buy a bike that will do 0-stupid in a heart beat with nothing down and payments

Our hobby will die in the next 20-30 years unless there s an influx of younger people and lowering of prices

The $100,000 hot rod is soooooo unatainable by todays younger people they dont even bother

Just sayin

Glen says..

The $100,000 hot rod is soooooo unatainable by todays younger people they dont even bother

Heck Glen Most guys I know would not be able to buy a $30,000 car to-day with this economy let alone very, very few young guys..They likely have a family, limited skills, tools, storage, and or funds..prioritys are changing and times are changing for a lot of young guys unless, like you say they get grandfathered into the hobby by their father, or another family member ..we are being squeezed by insurance costs, government regulations, the cost of ownership ..This is not a cheap hobby ..much fun but not cheap..Lots of us old farts are quickly falling away with health issues either our own or possibly our spouses and fixed incomes have to be part of the equasion..

That was the one....went for $5,000 a buddy of mine bought it......Very good body

Amen to that Chuk....Today.....way cheaper to buy...than build....

Look at my car...Good build...very custom...show winner...great driver...in magazines and videos

over 500 hrs to build.....looking for $20,000 or close to....Everybody wants to trade ....boats....bikes....x wives ( got lots of those)

Or crap im not interested in....

You couldnt build my car for $20k....unless ALL YOUR TIME WAS FREE!

But....Was great to get out and meet a bunch of Ontario Rodders (even though I froze my azz off)

I was there vending, got there at 5 am (second in line) and rushed to set up in the dark so didnt make it out to meet any of you guys that were there. Ended up taking my minvan not my sons pickup. I sold a lot of stuff and dropped prices alot to do it. Didnt mind as now theres more garage space at home.

I saw grumpy come barreling in, thought it was one of them crazy rat rodders! Lots of neat cars. Merc Unibody was cool and the 38? Ford panel. Wish I had more time to look.

Glenn, Thanks for posting the names of everyone. Most pictured I knew, but now I know them all. The Dan in the upper left corner is Danno of Danno's Blackheart Designs Pin-striping and Lowbrow Art. Very talented guy.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hello to us. Lets do it again in much warmer weather!

great to meet all the new people and see the ones I already know.

Lots of good buy's there ,and people willing to work with the prices.

Start high ,sell lower!! There is alway's your regular vendors with outragiously high prices, but I know who they are know and just keep going

 The 2 door sedan,

that the asking price was 5500.00 was a  1930 or 31 model a ford

It was a very solid body with very little rust thru but ,5500.00 ????

I don't think it would take much more  $$$ to buy a restored 2 door sedan with an ownership

Heck you got another 2500.00 to get it apart ,get the body cleaned up and get it into epoxy primer

2000.00- 2500.00 would probably have been a good buy

Just my opinion

I agree with that statement 100%, it's a major pet peeve with me. That happened with me a lot on Sunday, I figure if it's there with no pricing, I must be in a museum and it's just on display. I'm not going to buy it and sell it too. I went with a pocket of cash, and ended up only leaving 50.00 total. The people I did buy from were on the ball, one vendor provided a plastic bag to hold a bunch of lens I was sorting through and then gave me a bit of a price break to boot. He knows how it's done. Another was busy with other buyers, I waited my turn, knew what I wanted, bought it and was on the way. That was another vendor on the ball. Guys that didn't get my money.....they were the ones to busy trippin down memory lane having a great ol visit, after a couple of minutes of being ignored it's sorry, I'm not going to wait for ya. No prices at all just get a quick glance, it has to be something I really need/want to get me to play both sides of the buying selling game. No one there to sell.... well, I do swing by again as a rule, guy could be on a pee break. (A lot of these guys are my age, it's cold and damp, and charged up on Timmy's...that's a combo you just can't ignore!!) In by 8:05 and on the road by 10:45 headin west to another smaller swap meet a 100 miles away. Was there for 25 minutes total, a quick check over of stuff being offered. Found what I was after, it was priced fairly (not a smokin deal, but fair to both sides) dropped 240. bucks and back on the road headin home. Unloaded my treasures and hit the road eastward toward London to a 60th birthday party for my brother inlaw. Hey..it was a busy day, I didn't have time to dawdle around. Most times I have more time to spend looking around...but the same rule applies, no prices...most likely no sale. No one there to give my money to...definitely no sale. Rant over.

Our hobby will die in the next 20-30 years unless there s an influx of younger people and lowering of prices

Just give us the ability to insure it. Minimum age of 26 for classic insurance... Trust me ive called everyone, twice.

Yup, Chevyboy is the real deal. Building, fabricating, metal shaping learning from the older crowd.

The insurance is a big reason why younger people are shying away. My son struggles at times to insure his daily driver let alone a second vehicle. Times are much different than when I was 19.

It was good to see you again out at the swap chevyboy.

Id have to agree with comment made earlier , hobby dying , i grew up on muscle , in this economy , paying 1200 for a 71 cuda grill , well im a normal ( some say ) workin joe with a morgage , taxes , bills , i just cant justify that to my self...thats why i turned to a hotrod i dont have to stick a fortune into to enjoy cruisein,,,gettin together with the other rodders on sunday was great , no 1 out there to out do each other,,, just a bunch of people building their dreams.. feels good to be apart of our little community ,,,

I really didnt see to many 20s guys lookin at rod parts , or old muscle car parts for that matter ...they re all into the rice muncher machines , or putting the custom touchs on cars they buy off the lots today ....times they r a changin....

look around really , people buyin the new mustangs are late 30 40s people reliving their youth ,,,,,ppeople on kool harleys are 40s 50s , aleast around here , hotrod people are late 30s,- 60s , for the most part .....

the hard to find and rare old muscle parts that we wudda jumped all over , and paid the money. you can hardly sell , now their a specialty part and u gotta find the right buyer ...could take a while .

all i can say is when your at the shows and you see a youngster lookin at your machine, take a minute to put his ass in your hotrod , if you gotta a kid around your house who always shows an interest in you car, get his parents permission and take him for a ride, put a memory in his head he wont ever forget ... he s the hotrodder of tomorrow... just sayin

Not only that, even if a parent owns the classic/hotrod, their child could not legally drive it until they are 25yrs old. That the answer I always got from Insurance companies I've talked to.

Chevyboy, too bad I did not know you were heading to Ancaster. I definitely would have tried to hook up.
