Looking at hemikevs post made me think of some of the cool old heaters that are available. I have a NOS southwind I picked up at a swap meet a little research turned up this link , dude is in T.O. Anyone ever deal with him priceing is reasonable
Those are pretty cool Slim. I've got an old swap meet heater with a fan and heat exchanger, but it works off the warm coolant like the modern systems. The one I've got is from an old Packard - not sure of the year. I'll dig it out and get some pictures of it.

This is the most common misconception of this heater. Since they run in a vacuum an explosion cannot occur. If the vacuum is broken for any reason, the heater shuts off instantly. They were tested by the American Underwriters Laboratories under very rigorous conditions and each one originally bore their stamp.
They still make a similar unit they use on planes. Or you could fit a modern core in it and use the rad heat
