The ELTA will be well represented at the Jalopyrama in Annapolis Maryland this weekend. Mark's (Fast Elvis) 55 Chev was invited to show and will be one of 39 on the main floor of the Maryland National Guard Armoury in Annapolis this weekend. So Mark, Mike Roi, and Jerry Golab are heading down the 401/403 right now. I was supposed to go but crap got in the way.
Have a great roadtrip boys, sure wish I was there!!!

Notasdrunk, The ELTA started a while ago with a few guys who were /are racers, hot rodders etc.. A few of the guys are full season racers in the ONDR ranks . Others are hot rodders of varying degrees. The thought of having somewhere to gather and work on cars came about and the building in EAST LONDON was secured. The name just evolved The only event we host or sponsor is the infamous ELTA summer Bash. It would be a natural for us to sponsor a race day at our home track....maybe in the future. Mark still has to finish up in Annapolis, then we have 5 cars slated for "The Basement" in Detroit..then the London show, OH yea then the Summer BASH. We stay pretty busy even in the off months.

what exactly is the east london timing association? i think of timing associations like the scta that handle events held at bonnevile and the dry lakes in calif, what connection does elta have to a race event/venue or is it just a name.
not poking fun here just genuinely curious.
I should also add to what Wayne has said......for your FYI Timing Assoc.'s have been around in this province since 1955......starting with the O.T.A. (Ontario Timing Assoc.), then there was the E.T.A.O. (Eastern Timing Assoc. of Ontario) and the A.T.A.O. (Automobile Timing Assoc. of Ontario) which were all made up of the the founding members hot rod clubs (ie. Brantford Piston Pushers, Galt Strokers, Tri Country Trompers out of Simcoe, Welland Road Beavers, Slow Pokes to name afew) throughout Ontario that starting organized drag racing at Kohler Dragway before NHRA was even in Canada. These roots are what helped to form and model the E.L.T.A. Disciples of Speed.
I know many Canadian hot rodders know the American hot rod history (SCTA, NHRA, Rossetta, etc)....lol.....but here in Ontario we have much to be proud of those early hot rod clubs, drag racers and builders......also in the ELTA we do have at least 6 drag cars out of the members keeping the racing tradition going. Hope this helps with Timing Assoc.'s in Ontario.

This is the only pic I can find of Mark's 55 during move-in, and very little of anything else???
Hey everyone thanks so much for all the well wishes and emails ......I know Mike, Jerry and I were very humbled by all those good vibes. Well, we got back last night (12+ hours...lol..driving) but we had a blast and met some super folks in Maryland at the show. The old 55 did us all proud with a "Top 10" of show pick.......so the Canadian lads did well besides making afew dozen new friends....lol.
I know Jerry was a crazy man taking pictures so hopefully in the next day our so we'll get a few up for the gang.....once again from Mike, Jerry and myself.....thanks for all your kind words, we felt very blessed.

Although I was there, and already have..wanted to congratulate Mark on trip and award. The invitation alone is an honor(I saw caliber of cars there, unbelievable!),and to pick up some hardware as well has done ELTA proud! Most of all the people we were fortunate enough to meet, were not only some serious king pins in hot rod history, own some of coolest cars around, but were genuinely awesome to be around. One of our newest friends,commented.."You guys are rock stars here!"...we had fun,saw cool crap, made new friends and spread the word of the ELTA gospel!Jerry was a photographing ninja,Mark our usual conversationalist, thank you both for the adventure..Mark you did good buddy.
