69 Camaro with a 427 in it. Owner had just completed a rotisseri restoration on it and was going through a divorce. All that was missing was the headliner .... he had it listed for $6500. Two years later, saw the car again with a new owner , spoke to the guy and he had bought it off whoever bought it from the original seller ... this guy paid $40 000 for it.

69 Ford Fairlane Fastback with an original 428 cobrajet. The car was all apart but only needed assembly , everything was there. Owner was asking $3500 . I said I'd take a day to think about it , it sold that afternoon. Haven't found another one since , that isn't $20 000 or more.

In 66/67 had a 65 Chevelle 300hp 4 speed car, and sold it to get my new 68 Camaro Z28 for $3700. out the door. In reality, the Chevelle was a better street car, but the Camaro was ssooooooo much more fun after the tach topped 6000rpm.

biggrinbiggrin

Sister-in laws younger brother had the body and paint done on his "Dirty Mary and Carzy Larry", Lime Green '69 Charger, R/T 4 speed and it sat on blocks for 6 months and I kept asking her if he wanted to sell it. Finally saw a "for sale" sign on it so I called her again THAT DAY...she didn't tell him for 3 more weeks, 2 weeks late of course for $1800.
I've grown up alot since then...I drive Chevy's now!

Waited a day too late and missed a 1970 Mustang Boss 302. Rebuilt and looked good (needed minor work) Repo Depot was selling it in Toronto for what was owing on the car... $1800
This was in the early 2000's and I could just scrape the money together to buy it.

I ended up buying a 68 Chevelle instead...my first real car.

In 1989, I missed out on a 67 chevy 11 on a used car lot in Naples, Fl
It was a 327 350 horse 4 speed car that looked perfect for $1500.00
I got thinking about what a good deal it was and went back a few days later and
it was gone.

Used to buy cars from a salvage yard years ago.  Was getting a 65 Parklane 4 dr & a 64 Marauder 2 dr ht, went to get them and they had mistakenly crushed the Marauder.

Around 1965 I didn't have my own car yet .....old guy has a 1951 Ford Prefect , black , excellent shape ...had the turn signals in the B-pillar and a little arrow would flip out when you used the turn signal ...........guy wanted $225 . My step father said no , you can borrow the family Impala if you need to drive . I shoulda bought the thing anyhow as I had visions of installing a sbc or straight 6 ....NO money , but visions biggrin
