I have noticed some folk get extremely pi$$ed off at Christmas adverts before rememberance day.

I'm curious as to why it's seen as such a disrespectfull thing to do over here?

Never noticed a problem in the UK, just curious.

I would think its because of the over commercialization of xmas by running ads so early and in effect overshaddowing Remembrance day being a time to honour ...both occasions are a time to reflect .

For me the problem is that retail is rushing everything. To the big stores everything is a sales event and has no meaning except for a way to sell stuff.I don't like to see a truely important day overshadowed by some pre Christmas sales campaign. We don't have many times in a year to sit dack and take a breath and think about something as important as our veterans and what they did for us and others, and its a shame when it is overtaken by cellphone adds.I guess thats why I get upset when seasons are rushed . If you have read any of my posts you must know there is no spell check in use. I will try to remember spaces in future.  By the way where do these links go. Ed

Flatblack55, I've notice recently, that in a few of your posts, you have a "hyperlink", in this case "everything.To". Are you doing that?

Hey Gazoo, I don't think Ed is aware that he is doing that. If you notice, them "hyperlinks"are just created from the lack of there being a space between the end of that sentence and the start of next sentence.

Your not leaving a space between your period and the start of the next sentance and the computer thinks your typing a web link.

Newcastle. It makes Cobourg look like......well you get the idea. It makes sense, right?

If you're using spell check, it will highlight also if there's a problem.

For me, the Santa Claus parade ( around Nov 15) marks the beginning of Christmas. It's all about the kids ans Santa for me. Not religious.

We got a slight dusting of snow last week. My son looked out the window and squealed 'it's snowing! It's Christmas!'
Thankfully Halloween has overshadowed the Christmas enthusiasm but it's going to be a long two months if we keep getting bombarded with Christmas ads.
I love Christmas and I love to see the kids get excited about it but in our house the tree goes up Dec 1 (ish)
On the up side the 'Santa is watching' bit works pretty well.
