Has anyone had experience bringing paint across from the US? I want to buy some off ebay and have it shipped to CBI in NY but I'm thinking they might want MSDS or other documents before letting me import it.
Looking forward to what you find out. I'm thinking that if it's a banned product here, you may have issues. I hope not, because there's a few paint items that I would like to import also. Keep us posted.
Thanks. I may just give border control a call and ask. I will let you know. It is a Rustoleum solvent based epoxy paint that I want. Way cheaper in the US.
I bought a quart of Hot Rod Flatz.From California The paint was cheap but with the shipping duties and customs just under $300.00 Cdn I knew that going in and I wanted it so there was no surprise. I just wished someone in Canada had it at the time I would have been more than happy to buy it here.

I was thinking of using Hot Rod Flatz someday when I get my truck to that point. How did you like it? Did you spray it or did you have someone else spray it.
I'd caution any of you guys who are "smuggling" illegal emissions safe paint products in to Canada. It will simply be taken away if you are caught and if they choose to make an example of you ,best of luck. The clean air folks don't piss around.. There are reasons no-one sell certain types of paint in Canada,it ain't legal...

X2 chris you might be getting away with it by declaring auto parts but, if they decide to check and its not legal here just loosing it will be your cheapest part of the day.
there is a simple solution, all it takes is a little creative thinking ........
strip your car to bare metal, drive to the state selling the paint, purchase tape and buy a newspaper (wall street journal should give you enough paper), rent a gas powered compressor (you did remember to pack your respirator and your primer and top coat guns right?), find an empty parking lot in an industrial area and lay it on. see told you it was simple.

No I sprayed it. Very easy to use, durable and I would not hesitate recommending it.
I used the PPG Fleetline K2 urethane for the black around the same price as you paid Grumps
This may seem like a dumb question, but I'm not familiar with PPG's paint line.
Is Fleetline a 2k urethane a top coat, or a 2k urethane primer?? I've seen Guys finish their cars with primer because of the satin look, but I was always concerned about exposure to UV rays because primers don't contain UV protectors. The reason I'm asking is because a few years ago I was looking for a durable finish in a black satin for hood stripes on a Road Runner, and couldn't find anything. I don't like using flattening agents because they go chalky over time. Nice car BTW.

The PPG Fleet line of paint is just that a urethane paint not primer. PPG fleetline is their line of paint to the trucking and industrial coatings. TSS Top Shops in Barrie sell it. Ask for Ray or Daryl.
Oh gosh no, no offence taken, just a big difference...! A lowrider is the typical 63 Impala with a velvet interior,dingleballs and hydraulics. Oh yeah, wire wheels and six hundred different colours all in one paintjob..

ooops, i didn't or don't mean anything bad by it. its a style to me thats all. i have been to the birthing grounds for it a couple of times and was/am awed by the skill and the ingenuity that goes into them. they are all customs i thought. the 2 vettes i've had definitely weren't customs or hot rods for that matter.

Thanks guys the true name for a lowrider was a bomb. As per Chris's example above, started in California way back when. then evolved into customs in the 50's and lowriders in the 60's and 70's
