Woah lots of good info coming out. I'm going to be starting my frame on the weekend, just so I'm clear (bear with me I've had a long day and my brain is like porridge), I'm going to be running hairpins so I want my front crossmember at 5-7 degrees positive caster meaning the top of my kingpins lean towards my cowl. Correct?
The truck I am building right now is going to be 6" as the rocker off the ground. Being a truck, I wanted some extra ground clearance :)
I am dropping the body on the chassis (chassis swapped 59' Chevy from one of the members here). The previous owner built it at stock height, but I like them lower. Truck would have already been on the road if I didn't start changing crap. The lowest part of the truck is actually going to the the rocker, but I will still have scrubline clearance.
Grumper,
you should build in some caster into the front crossmember. It allows the spring to move more freely in the crossmember, especially if you flatten the top of the crosmember
