Removing Toyota 4 runner axle bearings
Permalink

Using a Toyota 4 runner rear end in my 34 chev truck. The bearings are pressed into the backing plates.

The dealership wanted 80.00 per axle labour to remove and replace the bearings due to special tools.

I had 4 axles to do because 2 of the backing plates were rusted beyond use.

so I made my own special tool.

on a more serious note ....... isnt it great having a chopsaw, grinder and welder handy.

just two days ago i had to make a tool for a small job i had to do on my fathers buick century. i initially grabbed the tools i thought i would need and drove to my fathers house to do the job, got part way into it then realized not only did i not bring the correct tool to allow me to continue/finish the job, i dont even own such a tool. put the car back together, drove the car to my house, made the tool, finished the job and returned the car that day. just cant imagine life without those tools (chopsaw, welder, grinder and some others) to be honest.
