Well, it's inevitable. It's December...in Canada. The weather is changing. I'll bet that even 'Shorts' is wearing long pants! Anyway, panic has ensued once again like it do ever year - never enough time to get outside stuff looked after before the weather turns for good.
It started with my old Galaxie. I had to bring it in to remove the drivetrain for my Son's '69 F-100. Well, I actually wanted to get it running first - it's been resting a few years. getting it in the shop was a chore in itself as it was pretty settled into it's own ruts.
Surprisingly the brakes weren't locked up and it rolled freely up to the house where I power washed the engine and trans. I let it drip/air dry overnight and pushed it into the shop with my yard truck.
Got it running, warmed it up, shut her down and yanked it. I left it hanging on the cherry picker while we dragged the sorry carcass back into the great outdoors.
Cleaned all the rust off the floor that dropped off the Galaxie and brought in the Kid's toy, once again pushed in with the yard truck.
Dropped it in over the extra tall rad cradle and had some firewall interference with the draft tube, dipstick tube and Kick down tube. Dang tubes! Had to move the frame mounts forward 2" - What a PITA! If it were mine, I'd just "clearance" the firewall with a "big persuader". Drilled some new holes in the frame and finally got it all bolted up.
A new home!
Truck pushed out into the Kid's lean-to shop, the trans fluid and saw dust cleaned off the floor.
Moved on to moving the Gasser project out to the small storage barn. Cougar out. Various crap moved out of, off of and away from the ol' Ford in preparation to move it. The car rools well enough, but the Econoline steering isn't attached to the column yet and is steered with a 4' pry bar on the king pins. Rolled it outside for a few pics.
...and then pushed it into the storage barn with the trusty plow truck.
Still not totally ready for winter, but hey, it's a good start and winter doesn't actually get here until December 21st!

Hahaha! No taggers or ruffians on this one, it was like that when I got it. I figure it was a guide coat for block sanding all that filler primer. It's been on there so long I don't even notice it anymore. Actually, now that it's in the storage barn it will be out of sight out of mind! .... for the winter anyway!

That gave me some great memories of my old 58 2dr post..it was even yellow..It was a great car and had many turns at sparta..I loved that that old tank..but I loved more cars than women..they gave me much more good feeling that lasted longer than any from women...
No drugs here - can't afford any artificial joy! But seriously, the work around here comes and goes in waves, Most of this was done by Thursday evening and I haven't done a thing since! Sad, but true.

Musta been a high turnover rate for this kind of work! I've met a handful of people that claim they've spent time on this very farm catching chickens. One of my wife's friend's Dad says he caught chickens here as a teen....He's well into his 70s now!!!

I hear ya Fordy. Always seems to be outside crap to finish every year that never seems to get done on time or soon enough. Spent a couple hrs outside tonight digging out one more for the winter work that had to get inside. 3 ft of snow on the entire car. brrrr.
Same thing last year. The big difference is last year I promised myself to not be in that position again....this year I'm not fooling myself, cause I will be. LoL

i can relate to the wave model of schedule. i am finding the waves get further apart though. trying something different this winter. picked one task per vehicle that i want done for spring and not a list of things per vehicle. hoping the mix up will keep me into it. the f-1 gets the new seats put in first, switch up. the coronet gets an electrical gremlin sorted out, switch up. the chevelle gets the electric dumps finished off properly. new list and away i go again. nothing real big but stuff i have been letting slide.
i am not making excuses but, i have had a young lad from down the road who has all the alpha bet head sickness's, adt, etc-etc, around here. he got off the meds awhile back and is working on getting right side up. he has been the get this, hold that, clean the shop, etc, for some years and dam i miss the extra hands around. i stopped in at his place the other day and he is coming around slowly. it sure makes you think how lucky you are.
anyway, that is what i am trying. one wave at a time sort of thing.
Well it's in hibernation at this point, but yes I do want to get onto it, possibly in the early spring. The plan calls for a warmed up 429 that currently resides in my Ranchero (avatar). There's no blower in my future, too pricey, but there is a tunnel ram on the shelf:
