Registration Guy by London question

The registration guy had some stuff on kijijijiji a while back , some bodies , unfinished projects etc etc .

I,m just curious . I heard a few rumours that people were thinking about going to look .

But did anyone buy anything ??. Did any one go for a look ??. Did you even hear of some one buying any thing from there ?? ..77.

Yes. It's in Kerwood. I've drove by his place a bunch of time but never stopped. He's about 20mins from my place.

How does it work if you buy an ownership, as far as getting registered etc?

Buying and selling ownership's in Ontario is legal...Afixing a number plate or implying that a registration  that belonged to a different  vehicle is a federal offence. If your not a seasoned lie'r . Crack easily under pressure or worry about what the neighbors say when they take you away in cuffs don't try this route .

My 50 doesn't even have a tag on it , buts its never been pulled over , but this summer I,m going to bill,s truck an get one though ..77.

Chev will have the serial # stamped in the frame just in front of the steering box on the drivers side rail at least my 57 did. that # will match the body # I think my 52 did but that was a number of years ago and I can only find documentation to it starting in 55 again Canadian Trucks don't follow us rule's so there could be a variance there to

I'm with Slim on this one.
Buying an old ownwership is one thing, like if you collected them for fun/interest sake.
Saying it's the same ownership as the vehicle your registering at the MTO is something else!
Infact the appraiser should NOT have given you a value that had that same serial number on it or he could be an accessory to a possible fraud, be fined and loose his license.
Lets say one of your vehicles gets stolen, the guy goes to London and buys an old one from a long wrecked and scrapped vehicle, then attaches it to your car. They just reserected a serial number that should have been flagged as scrap in the MTO data base and they just made THAT vehicle reappear out of thin air and yours disappeared! To me this guy is doing nothing more than fostering the illegal registration of lost and stolen cars! I mean really, other than a very few guy willing to pay $100-$200 for an old ownership for a collection hanging on his wall or a memory, what other purpose does this guy in London serve???? Can any of us afford to buy 10 "cool" ownerships at those prices to hang on the wall?

Is there more to this or am I missing something?

I just went in yesterday to swap the ownership into my name that I bought. When I bought the ownership he gave me a sheet of letterhead from the Wrecker whose name was on the ownership and I filled it out like he instructed. I had an appraiser come by and give me an appraisal on what I had started with. I took the appraisal, receipt and the 1956 ownership to the License Office and it went through without a hitch. The serial number that was on the ownership was not in the system but she was able to force it through so I will have to that number on the new serial number plate. New Ford serial number plates are available from Macs. It is now in my name and titled as a 1941 Ford pick up.

Congratulations     Glad the "system"  made you legal     Even if the system is flawed    Enjoy    life to short to be in a bitch all the time  lol

We should all try to be aware of how the laws work and how they are applied but it may not be good to state that you've broken them! If you've just realized it, you may want to edit or delete your post! If you're truely innocent and have done no wrong then please, educate the rest of us.

Personally, I usually start off with "I know this guy.....

Half the hotrods out there wouldn't be if not for being able to buy an old reg from a scrapped vehicle. Goddam hypocrites ... are your vehicles 100% legal ?!?!? Is everything you do 100% within the law ?!?!

If your referring to me as being a hypocrite your not reading the post correctly.
I don't believe anybody has pointed fingers at anyone doing anything wrong here, this is all information!
No insult intended but whether you want to acccept it or not is up to you. We all do work to differing standards and pass final judgment on our own handy work if WE feel safe it's "good to go". We all accept our own level of risk in everything we do. Whether it be fabricating our vehicles to driving over the speed limit or drinking and driving.
If some guys wants to register thier rides from a document meant "for colectors only" what risk is in that? Possibly when his insurance company drops him because he didn't represent the vehicle honestly when it comes time to pay out as the result of an accident? He's on the hook for the bills. Hopefully it not yours or my family he hits but thats something no one wants to consider.

"....are your vehicles 100% legal ?!?!?....mine is registered 100% legally!

"Is everything you do 100% within the law ?!?!"....I'd be stupid to answer that question one way or the other!

I really should fix my horn . But every time i go to push it I think to myself......JOHNNY WHAT YOU REBELLING AGAINST .

Just because you pulled the wool over some clerk's eyes at the licence office doesn't mean that any cop or mto officer  can't challenge it and from what I've seen most don't have a hope in hell of ever seeing their car again. Its not only a federal offence they also have the right to seize the vehicle ( forfeit to the crown ) and don't think for a minute they won't  . Why anyone would put themselves in this position is beyond me when with a little more effort  for around the same money you can get a legal title

Just for your information no I've never switched ownership's on anything and I've never sold crack to children  so get me a white dress and a funny hat because I must be Mother freakin Teresa.

When you talk about "legal title", do you realize that without an original ownership the vehicle is registered as a current model year and therefore subject to current emission regs ?!? You could have a mint original model T but without the original ownership it would be registered as a 2014 "whatever".

I bought an ownership from Tex and registered my vehicle with it. I challenge anyone to prove that vin does not belong to my vehicle.

That's interesting to say the very least.

As far as your VIN, aren't there numbers on the car that won't match the paper?

That would be proof.

I've used them , not in this country however so don't if that would work here.

But I certainly worked well in my experience for MCs.

When MTO officers at the road side can't properly interpret the laws they are stopping you for and queries to MTO headquarters come up with no answer, why would you expect any OPP officer to give a definitive answer to something he has no control over other then to enforce the laws as he is told? That 'opinion' would likely cause him a suspension or job loss.

The cops or the ministry don't have to prove anything . when the serial number doesn't match or cant be found they simply charge you with possession of stolen goods over 5000. Now its up to you to prove its not stolen , guilty until you prove yourself innocent . you have given them all the proof they need to lay a charge . the numbers don't match or they are not there and if you run into one that knows his s..t all manufactures use special stamps for certain numbers or letters and a re stamp  will stick out like a sore thumb . one of there favorites make you do the work .
