Everything covered in ice in South Etobi. So far so good with power in my area.
Neighbour was out taking pictures and heard a couple transformers blow in the distance, saw the flashes from them.
Power hasn't gone out here in Wallbridge yet. we have some ice but nothing drastic so far. I have a yard full of trees and only a few twigs down so far. fingers crossed. I was in the Montreal area for Ice Storm '98 and went with out hydro for 8 days.
St.Marys Trees are covered in ice ,so far still have power, but I think as long as the winds hold off and themp rises a bit we may be O.K. but these poor old trees are heavily weighted ..keeping out toes crossed I hate to see any damage to them..we have so many over 100 trees on the property

Had to go out, just got back, all snow here, not much moving, have a total since last night now of about 12 inches on top of the 8 inches we had before this. Great weather for guys plowing driveways by the job, (instead of by the season,) roads are not good.
Sat Noon...No power and none coming for a while I'm told. Got a genny running for the basics (tv, heat and internet). Got hit pretty hard with lots of trees down on the vehicles. Things are going to look a lot different after this one. Just hoping my birch tree in the front yard can hang in there. All 3 work trucks are covered in fallen limbs but it looks like the motor home is ok but won't know for sure until we can get closer. You can only see the dually in the pics but there are 2 other trucks in behind that are covered in limbs.

Since Friday we received approx. 13-14 " of snow and now we are getting freezing rain...............what a mess , getting ready in case of power failure!!
Major ice storm !
Was hoping they wouldn't be right on the ice part of the forecast ....used to live in Kitchener area for 20 years , so know how it can get . Only rain down here in the Windsor region as temps are about +1 . The 8-10 " of snow we got a week ago is gone . Hope y'all can keep the power on .

A friend went to MacMaster Hospital in Hamilton to pick up her Grandaughter and new baby. The power went out and she is stuck there. Can't release the kid because the compooters aren't working.
+6* out here on the Island.
Power went out last night, and it's still out. Around 3/4 inch of ice over everything. Got the fireplace going and generator powering basics. Will be upgrading the genny to a 240 volt so that I can get the we'll pump going. Ran out of beer too.
Power was out south of Brantford where I am for 12hrs then came on. I put the genny away and the power went off again for another hour or more. Fine here now but the trees took a beating. One of my nieghbours trees lost three big branches. Two are still caught up in the tops of the smaller trees and the other cleaned all the branches off one side of one of my evergreens. Just got internet back a few minutes ago.

South east Oshawa back up, my kid had no power for about 6-7 hours.
I was out earlier cleaning of the daily drivers and heard a couple of crashes that came from the back of the house.
50' evergreen in my yard lost some branches, one on the roof of the house. No damage. Big tree behind my garage in the neighbours yard lost a couple of large branches, luckily not on my garage.
Another neighbour tree has lost a very large limb, precariously hanging on the cable/phone lines. If that takes the lines down, I most likely loose internet and land line.
Back in 98 we were 14 days without hydro, phone lines were down, few gas stations had generators, no debit machines working.Lost miles of hydro poles and transmission towers.
After 17 hrs have just got my power back on.The back yard looks like a war zone.I have lost limbs off of every tree.On an acre property if I have one square foot with no branches or limbs I am lucky.
I never lost power but just got the internet back up and running.
Car and truck covered in ice, driveway is a mess. All the trees are sagging. Spent most of the day trying to clean the driveway enough to be able get out. Plows went by for the first time about 6:00pm tonight.
Never run out of beer though, stocked up before the weekend.

Had the generator and jerry cans fueled and ready to go but nothing major in Ingersoll. Power stayed on here. Just heard from my Aunt in Richmond hill, power's been on and off since six pm but seems to be back of for good now.
My poor generator has been running non stop for 14 hours. I couldn't imagine what I would have done without it. My fireplace has also been able to keep the house around 20 degrees, so I'm riding this out fairly easily. Was supposed to take my Dad to Sunnybrook in the morning but I'm sure all appoinents will be cancelled. I really feel bad for elderly people that have to go through this without heat or basic needs. It sickens me to think how reliant we've become to basic things like electricity. I can't imagine going through a real disaster like the rest of the world sees on a regular basis.

i've got an older 6500 honda with the big plug for the pump if you need it. you would be doing me a favor using it as it just sits in the shop collecting dust since i put in the 100amp generac standby. it never let me down over the years.

Ran out of beer too.------there goes my rental fee--lol-lol
Wow, radio reports now state with the wind comming up this is going to create more clean up problems due to more trees breaking off onto power lines.
Bunch of hydro crews from up in this area are on their way or already there to assist in getting this sorted out.
Power just back on here after 44hrs. Managed OK with a small generator and the fireplace. Moving cords around from coffeemaker to fridge to furnace to kids and wifes cell phone chargers. Isn't it cute how their fingers go into hyper mode when the battery is dying.
Drove through Port Hope this morning, it is a mess there.

My in-laws still don't have power. They always host the family Christmas, guess who just showed up with 2 car loads of food, presents and booze? Christmas is at Grumpers house this year!
We were very lucky to be on the 'warm' side and got rain, lots of it.Even went out and bought a generator 'cause I remember the times when we did not have one! Like insurance I guess.

Out here in Prince Edward County, we just got the power back on after 49 hours but we were OK. We used the generator from the motorhome to feed back through the panel giving us power through the house. We had microwave, tv, furnace, light and fridge but no water since we needed 220/240 to operate the well pump. We had barrels of rain water from the green house for washing and toilet and bottles of water for coffee. We have indeed been warm and cozy. The kids called from Toronto to say they are still having power problems but have found alternative places to keep warm (that should probably read party). I'll go in to pick them up in the morning. Everything is still covered with ice and if we get any wind tonight, we could be back to blackout. The propane for the generator is getting low in the motorhome and the nearest fill up is 45 minutes to Belleville if I can get the beast out of the snow around it.
Reports this morning state 150,000 still out around and in TO, and another 50,000 in outer areas.
Two dead from carbon monoxide, and another 15 in hospital suffering from the same.
Running generators in enclosed areas and barbecues inside,,,,, Geez people , like, where have you been?????
Heard another talk show interview with a woman and husband who are trying to keep their house warm with candles, but they can't sleep well due to worrying about fire.
Reports state there have been numerous fires. ????????????
That would be safe 58. BUT, i can't imagine what some of these other people are using.
Did hear though a report that one person was placing their candles in the bath tub. That would work.
Murphy's Law kicked in for me. I bought an older generator last night (thanks Shag) and got home with it around 11:00 PM. My hydro came back on this morning at 7:00 am. At least I got a better generator now with 240v.
Power back on here in northwest Oshawa, after 54 hours and no generator.
Just used the fireplace and wee tad of whiskey.
Took 6 hours to clean up ice off driveway, Merry Christmas!
