I have always loved the 59s except for what the factory did to the rear side windows. I'd remove that bar and custom fit windows to give it that true forward look. A set of black centered mags give that car an awesome look. This car truly is the untapped custom.

There's a big get-together going on right now down at Grumps' place in Brantford, so once they all get home you'll start getting a lot more replies (all the loud mouths are there you see)

I'm new to all this hot rodding stuff, so I don't know what your car is going to look like, but then I'm new to North America, so that would explain a lot

Janice...is that an Olds by chance? A '37 I presume? When I was a kid, my dad was into 30's cars before he was into Mopar muscle cars...he had a '37 Olds Super Eight. It sat out in our driveway and I can remember playing in it all the time, it was my first fort...lol. I remember two guys coming to look at it and them and my dad firing it up, it hadn't run in years. I'll never forget that sound...the old straight eight with no exhaust...one of my most vivid childhood memories. I remember how sad I was when they came back and loaded it up on a trailer and dad telling me it was sold. Years later when I was out with Dad somewhere, we saw this big deep blue monster with shiny chrome, and big wide white porta-walls...I said 'hey dad, look at that old car!"...he said, "yup, you otta remember that car, you used to play in it...that's my old Olds!"...anyway, great car...I look foward to seeing your progress on it!

Ok thanks! Mine is a '91 tranny, non lockup...I think '91 was the only year for that. I put a TCI 2300 stall converter in it.

We actually installed a 350 red ram engine ..I never knew Dodge ever built a 350 but they did I beleive it was for just one or two years in around 58..it was an origial flat-head 6 with 3 on the tree. as well ..have fun and welcome to party..

Cool Mopar build! One of my buddy's has a son that started on this more door years ago. It's got a pretty severe body drop and a sinister look - it has since been sold to another buddy after sitting in my yard untouched for years.

Lol...the motor in my car came from some guys garage in Dorchester...he had it rebuilt for a dodge pickup, drove it for 1000 miles or so then got rid of the truck. He saved the motor. I got it through a friend of a friend for free! I took it to an engine shop in Point Edward...it didn't need any machine work. I just had the newer 308 heads cleaned up and installed flattop pistons.

You are correct sir biggrin 37 olds. But flathead 6/3 speed. Not an 8

Funny, many childhood memories for me involve mopar muscle as well.

Neat project! My brother and I built one for him when he was a kid. We pulled the old 313 and installed a big block 361 (like a 383) Since the big block ran a three speed auto instead of the original 2 speed we made a floor shift box something like they used on the old Art Carr race transmissions.

Was trying to decide if your title "suddenly it's 1959 " was intentional or not . I'm old enough to remember a 1957 Plymouth tv ad the went " Suddenly It's 1960 " , referring to the '57 styling . I thought it was a cool ad back then .

Steering all figured out and back together! The column came out of a stick shift square body Dakota...its tilt, and I removed the lock cylinder and ignition mechanism, body worked over the hole where the key used to be. I can retain my dash ignition and now I have tilt steering. The u-joint/coupler assembly is from a 90's Ram...I had to do some minor welding/ grinding to alter the shape of the steering box shaft to accept the u-joint, but other than that it all was pretty simple!
