The Ivo T ! I liked both Ivo's and Grabowski's Cad powered T ...loved to see Kookie jump in and roar off on 77 Sunset Strip . ....hot blond beside Ivo's car ! Don't think she was " My Little Margie " !
John..I was & I am & it hurts..but damn the memories are worth every damn bit of the pain..I wouldn't trade a day of those years for a year free of pain !!!!!!! It was a blast and when I leave I will have lived every minute of what the good Lord has given to me..I will have a smile on my face and in my soul..It has been a hella of a ride..and it' ain't over yet..
Was only there twice so I forgot . First time there ......I always go early , watch them unload , tune etc .....a herd of cows were by the track fence quietly munching away , content as hell ......couple of cars fire up and the whole herd turned around and headed back to the barn . Maybe they didn't like racing ? Pretty funny scene . Maybe they like Polish soccer ?
OK , Fordy , here's a question ....is Farmer Al Mitchell still around ? He was the super modified driver from beautiful downtown Dorchester , as I recall , ....saw him run several times , not the fastest racer around but I did enjoy his racing back in my super modified days .
...but seriously, I've only been here 15 years and the name doesn't ring a bell. I've got a couple of buds that get around to some of the tracks still, like Oswego NY, I'll ask and report back ASAP!

Used to go to Nilestown and Delaware when I was a little kid. Harvey Lennox, Max Bear, Grant Manning, Benny Smith, John Gower, Ron Sharpe are few names that my feeble memory can recall. You guys are sparking good memories long forgotten.
Don't know if Mitchell ever went to Oswego ....I started going there in '75 and never saw him , he may have run earlier .
I remember Harv Lennox ( in the Tammie 10 ) ...and I think you mean Jack Sharpe ( ? ) in the Lobo 1 .......these were the beginnings of the supers back in the early '60's . I would see them at CNE in Toronto .....Jimmy Howard , Gary Witter , Howie Scannell . Pinecrest was another Toronto track with good racing ( Don Biederman ) ....those were fun days .

Al Mitchell lived on the east end of town on Hamilton St. He used to also be the Ski-Doo dealer back in the '60s-'70s. He got out of that and became the local licence bureau. All his fields of tobacco are now subdivisions. As to if he is still alive??? Can't help you out there.

Nilestown was a dirt track from 1952 to halfway through the 1955 season. After that, it was paved. Those pictures are not from there. Land is too flat. Remember, they used to use the hill on the south side of the track as the grandstands.

Even that old licence bureau is long gone - now a nursery/garden centre.
