I have couple friends up near Goderich/Kincardine and they always venture out . The 2 guys i know have a common saying......Putter in 4 low and let the big dog eat. I guess growing up there they have a diferent view..

I think its great the OPP shut the roads (common sense) Those Big Dogs are the one who cry like a girl when they get stranded and demand help..... Idiots
When I worked for Volletts out of Durham, was a few times when 6 was closed from Mount Forest on north. OPP never said anything to us about going around the barricades. They just told us that we was on our own.

It's my understanding that if you go around a barrier and opt to drive on a closed road and something happens to your car ( as in wreck / damage ) your car insurance won't cover it . I know it used to be that way when I lived in Kitchener 20+ years ago and had to travel with my job up through to Haliburton in winter ...something else to consider .
Insurance guys won't have any sympathy (not that they ever did anyway) for you either. They find out you were on a closed road or ignored the signs and you go anyway, you have no insurance coverage. Any damages or ensuing lawsuits, you get to pay it all by yourself. Ain't life grand.

lol Which means if the OPP close the road STAY OFF the road if you are out of beer too bad
You know it's bad when snow plow operators end up stranded on the road overnight.
That happened to two Huron County snow plow operators caught in whiteouts who thought they were pulling their machines off the road for just a few minutes about 6:30 p.m. Monday until visibility improved enough to continue working.
But the blizzard never let up and they weren't able to move again until about 5 a.m. Tuesday, said Dave Laurie, Huron County's director of public works.
But the men weren't alone in the storm.
More than 100 people abandoned their vehicles on county roadways in the driving snow storm that saw winds climb to more than 70 kilometres per hour and temperatures drop below minus 25 Celsius.
County crews have been checking vehicles to ensure people found safety and so far nobody has been found in a stranded vehicle.
"It looks like people just walked away from them," Laurie said.
The abandoned vehicles have been a major headache for road crews in Huron and Perth Counties trying to reopen county roads as the vehicles have to be pulled out before plows can punch their way through.
All Huron County roads and provincial highways in the county remained closed Tuesday. Laurie said county roads won't be reopened until at least Wednesday.
The problem Wednesday was the wind filling roads back in after they were plowed.
Laurie said drifts in one area were more than 12 feet deep and the county has hired contractors with large snow blowers to remove the snow banks.
While plow operators were able to open single lanes on some county roads for police, fire and ambulances, they weren't cleared enough to reopen the roads for the public, he said.
Huron OPP issued a warning for drivers to stay off the closed roads and urging people to avoid all unnecessary travel. The fine for driving on closed roads is $110 and three demerit points.
In an updated severe weather bulletin at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday Environment Canada said Huron and Perth Counties remain under a blizzard warning.

I always thought it was a ticketable offence and the I read this from 'Ghost's' London Free Press link : "Huron OPP issued a warning for drivers to stay off the closed roads and urging people to avoid all unnecessary travel. The fine for driving on closed roads is $110 and three demerit points."
