Agreed ,great collection, Interesting to see the 57 Pontiac state troopers car, and the Everly brothers so young.
Lots of old memories from back then when gas was probably 25 cents a gallon and some of those cars fully loaded would have sold for $2500-$3000.
I don't remember any of this - born far too late! What I wouldn't give to be born between '40 and '45. I'm sure glad the history has been captured with images like this for us young'uns to check out!!!

Yeah there is a little bit of history from '40-'45 for you to learn about. Study the auto industry during this time. Pretty amazing what was accomplished.

Being a Ford fan, I've read some of Ford's history and found that 'ol Henry was dead set against WW I and WW II, but once each was declared was behind it 100%! Lots of cool inventions in that era as well, even outside the auto industry.

Whats not to remember,Kids hanging out, kids thinking they are the koolest thing around(didn't matter what group you hung with ,they were the coolest around),and guys fixing old cars and proud of them. Some things things don't change.Although the movie stars back then seem so much more glamourous then todays nutbars.I still think the guys I hang around with are the coolest ,although I do wish I had hair I could comb back into a Ducktail or maybe one of those high James Dean waves. Ed
They were kinder , gentler , times to be sure . I was looking at the one pic of ( apparently ) a little brother and bigger sister standing beside the convert ......today she would look like a young hooker ...he would ( maybe her too ) pierced everything .
I'm happy I came through an era when there was excitement about car styling , when you looked forward to September and the new car unveilings ....will there be fins ? More/less chrome ? You could identify a car a block away . These days , if you took off the badge , you'd be hardpressed to identify any car , much less what year it it . The new car excitement just isn't the same .

You might even say he was behind it 200%.
Read up on Ford-Werke AG and their war effort. And Henry's industrialist buddies pre WWII.
(where's the stir the pot emoticon)

I was born in '62 so I have no connection to that era but it seems to me that things are not too different!
You had Elvis and we have Beiber.
You had Betty Page and we have Mylie Cyrus.
Chrysler and Ford sucked and Chevy ruled...just like today!
Betty Page was, what all these girls at the rockabilly car shows are trying copy, the pinup girl .Kind of a real life Betty Boop. She was the girl on lots of posters, those racey garage calenders and kinda like the immages on fighter planes and bombers.Back then she was the ,it, girl.So I am told . Ed
