That pic of the mailbox reminds me of mine the other day. I went out to get the mail and noticed someone had snapped off the post and had repaired it by nailing 3 scrap pieces of wood around it. i have no idea who or when it was done but at least they did a temporary fix on it. Lol

Township took our's out with the plow, came back and put a superspike into the ice and stuck the mailbox back up, been like that now for a month.

we had wind and drifting to start the weekend, then steady snow to end, adding to the high spots and filling the low ones, not to mention there was already too much on the ground to start with,
Hey , did you see Atlanta Georgia ?.....2 1/2 INCHES of snow and there is chaos and pandemonium ......cars stuck , people stranded . Ah the U.S of A ....want to "solve " everyone else's problems ( like a bull in a China shop ) and can't get out of their own way on day to day stuff . Maybe Harper should send Atlanta a coupla 'billion just to show we care ....not .

i know someone down there. True. They do now know what to do. I have to laugh....5 cm of snow...for us that means wearing our long shorts !
The snow we have today is like what we dealt with as kids. Nothing was closed and everyone went to school/work. Its quite funny.
What we have here is really just a part of an old fashioned winter, i don't mind it at all, better than freezing rain and slush everywere
Heard on the radio the other day the OPP had over 1600 accidents in 48 hours this past weekend?
I normally like the snow and being to get out on the sled but frankly I'm getting tired with the 5 days of steady squalls. Here's a short video of them working on the drifts just north of us.
It's been a few days, with no snow, lol. It's back today, nice and heavy and close to 10".
The snow banks certainly are starting to look like what they used to be, when I was growing up.
More snow just about everywere i think. Looks like we got around another 6-7 inches, i just shovelled the paths out yesterday, sure keeping everyone busy shovelling and plowing.
Been a great winter for guys plowing by the job, but the poor guys plowing by the season, will be cursing this.
Going to be a few cottage and hunt camp roofs under a great load strain, heard the other day, people are snomobiling into them and shovelling them off, apparently some had up to 4ft on them.
Road conditions are poor at times, there are 5 major plowing contractors looking after the hiways through to Thunder Bay, (Thanks to Mike Harris's cut backs and privatization), and out of the 5 contractors 4 have been fined , some up to the 6 figure mark! OUCH!
After about 45 years of winter,I am going to spend My winters down in South Carolina, maybe I should take my sled with Me.You never know when it will snow down there, ( it does snow there a bit sometimes,2 inches and the whole town shuts down,EMS and Fire on RED alert, lol).I really dont, mind the snow but after doing the end of the driveway the snow plow goes by,I am pretty sure I can hear him lauging on the return trip as I try to find My mailbox :(

The front of the high school I shovel almost every night - picture taken last week:
My deck and yard taken through the screen/window from inside on Sunday:
(notice there is literally no buildup on the railings due to the wind not allowing snow to settle any where that is elevated. The roofs of the house, shed and cars parked outside have no accumulations - which is why it's so weird for me to see all your photos from up north with giant pillows of snow on everything!)
My wife digging out on Sunday:

I am not going out the shop to-day I need a mental health day ..My water to the shop is frozen underground , I am getting pretty sick of it, I think I will the wife to-day and do house work and some baking ,, a few more pictures of around here enough allready..
some of the drifts around the house are up to the eve troughs...
if you look through the trees you can see I have one of those portable garages to store the lawn mower and some yard stuff I can barley see it it is totaly covered with drifts all around it..
my deck is 5 feet off the ground and the snow is above the deck I try to keep it shoveled off as it is off my bedroom and I have 8ft windows in my bed-room and the snow was almost 2 ft up the window and my dog could not see out to keep an eye on the poor little bunnys trying to eat the branches off the lilac trees..he loves to chase those bunnys
Must be age or something bit I am getting stressed and BROKE paying the heat, and ONT LIBERALS HYDRO BILLS.... and as I sit here posting this I can't see my barn from my house office...So I know where I will be when it stops again..Out on my friggin tractor blowing snow ..Again.. aaarrrggg
6" more have fallen over night, up to 12pm, apparently should stop snowing at about 5pm.It's getting to the point, that even the snowblower can't throw the snow over top the snowbanks.
Here is my back yard this morning...the sides of my lane way to the road out front are as high as my truck on the west side. I have a pile that is about 10' high on my front lawn....BRING IT ON! I love it.
We missed the snowfall you guys got, all we got was a bit of wind that blew the loose stuff around. We must have at least 30 inches on the level, as the deer in the yard ,their bellies are now dragging a bit on the snow.
Getting hard for them now to get around. Mostly they are staying just on the edge of the bush, munching sapling twigs.
Well my portable/temporary garage is now a pancake. I just got back from work at 11pm, it was standing when I left.
I cleared the snow off of it two weeks ago, when I returned from the Dominican Republic.
The one side is facing north, and it's an open field, it got drifted in real good...I suppose I didn't help clearing the snow off the roof and let it build up 7' high on the walls. I have my snow blower in there, some patio furniture, engine hoist, a couple spare engines, trans and rear axles, so I can't see much of a lost. Maybe a lot of clean up work.
Last night we got 90Km winds and another 6 inches down, this time we have a lot of slush under it due to the thaw the past two days when temps got up to +4c.
The deer here are having to really work to get around to feed, not an emergency situation yet, but a lot of people are now starting to cut browse for them. Last years fawns especially being only about 2/3 grown are having difficulty, their bellies are really dragging in the snow. At least there is no crust yet that the wolves can run on to easily kill them. Wolves are finding it tough going also sinking into the deep snow.
