Gotta be the guru of Hemi engines!! Awesome life the guy led!
Remember when he first towed to the nationals in california,,an unknown there from back east and whipped the hot shoes there.
Quite an upset for the old "Click" and they were asking "who the hell is this "Don Garbage" ?
I enjoyed that video. It brings back a lot of memories as I was there for some of the events.
The guys in the pits were spooked when he showed up with a Cross on his car at Pomona. He was the talk of the race as racers thought he was playing head games.
While touring his museum the doorway was blocked by people standing around, so, I waited for them to leave . I was shocked when a side door opened out came some people with Don himself as he was giving tours of the shop. The wife and I went right along with the next tour and saw the streamliner with the belts on the front wheels. Don was down to earth and answered questions then shook everyone's hand as we left.
My most vivid memory was sitting near the finish line at Englishtown and seeing the car go up and over then sliding backwards past me through the lights with the engine still running then powering the car back by us to about the 1/8th mile mark.
I wish I cold go back it time.
