Driveshaft shop

I had a custom driveshaft built for Dog Spit and when I went to install it, the u-joint was the wrong size for the 9" yoke(my fault for giving the wrong bit of info).  The driveshaft was a 1310 u-joint size and the 9" is a 1330 large cap size.  This appears to be an unusual combination and calls for a conversion u-joint.  I couldn't find any info on line and sometimes it's impossible to get parts departments to find anything for you if you don't have the VIN.  Well, today I had to go to Mississauga and stumbled upon a new driveline shop.  I took my driveshaft in and after about 3/4 of an hour measuring and checking boxes, they came up with the solution.  These guys were so friendly and helpful, I have to recommend them to anyone thinking of getting a driveshaft built, balanced, repaired or modified.  It is Pat's Driveline located at 7337 Pacific Circle just off Tomken in Mississauga.  This is new well equipped shop.  It also appears there are several sister companies next door that deal in heavy equipment drivelines and rearends of all kinds.

Warren,
Glad you got fixed up, if you ever need another 1310/1330 conversion joint, the Dana Spicer part# is 5-134x, pretty common item.

I had the same problem, but the NAPA store in Port Perry took the time & effort & came up with the same U'joint that Don lists & is a common conv. joint!!! You just have to find the 'right' auto suppy store that has an interest in this stuff!!!!

Pat's Drive Line have been around for some time. They are well known with the 4x4 crowd for fabbing up new shafts for lifted jeeps.

The 5-134X is indeed a 1310 to 1330 conversion u-joint, both sides with 1.062 caps. The rare exception is the large cap version with a 1.125 caps on either the 1310 or the 1330 side. The 1310 refers to length from outside cap to outside cap of 3.219" and the 1330 is 3.625". The 1350 has a cap size of 1.187 and cap to cap length of 3.625.

Outside Lock U-Joints by Series

Series Width Cap
1210 2.438 1.062 All 4 caps
1310 3.219 1.062 All 4 caps
1330 3.622 1.062 All 4 caps

1310 BC (Ford) 3.219 2 @ 1.062 (shaft) 2 @ 1.125 (pinion)
1330 BC (Ford) 3.622 2 @ 1.062 (shaft) 2 @ 1.125 (pinion)

1350 3.622 1.188 All 4 caps
1410 4.188 1.188 All 4 caps

This is what I needed
