Thanks Will, George Kass's site is a real trip down memory lane, a great collection.
I loved them all, (classes,) but looking back on it the last number of years i have great admiration for the average guys working on a shoestring budget, bustin their Ass*s, comming up with ingenious ways to get closer to the NHRA record , of which a great number did, and actually went considerably under the record.
So many "Underdogs" who were creative thinkers, attempting at times ,with incredible odds to get a wee bit past the bigger money guys.
So many heartaches and as they say blood sweat and tears, todays racing cannot compare in my opinion, (Still love it though,) to these so called underdogs that did much of their own modifying, and that spent many many hours "Burning the Midnight Oil".
Lol, agree on that, a number of young guys on here.
I was always interested in Teardown after winning at a major event. Read some incredible stories about "FINALLY" setting a new record, then at teardown getting disqualified for some thing like a 2 thou overbore!
OR,,,,,,,, Even in the stock classes of having too short of mufflers, (by a couple of inches) when the rule book stated " must have full factory exhaust in place."
Stuff like that is sad.
Certainly agree though, that rules mean just that, there has to be no leeway, but it must be a nasty job at times for the inspectors.
