The magnets from my wiper motor fell off today. WTF. Never used it once. Turned it on and it seized up . Took it apart and the magnets were stuck to the armature. Sending back 4 years after buying it to see if they will fix it.image.jpg

I called already. They said they have never seen one fall apart like that. They told me to send it back and they will take care of it.

This is the reason I used an OEM wiper motor, and OEM power window motors. All this aftermarket stuff is just pure Chinese junk.

I realize that, but they are made to different standards, and OEM stuff has had way more engineering gone into it that aftermarket parts. This wiper motor we're talking about is a perfect example. A factory part would never be designed to such low standards because it would be a warranty nightmare.

Nope. Mounted them on the car then took them off and sat in the box for almost 4years.  Never did try them Because never had a battery or anything. I should have tried them but didn't. The reason I used this brand is because I have a cable drive system and couldn't find a domestic manufacture. Hopefully they will be able to fix it.

its rather ironic that at a time Japanese products were considered the cheap stuff, now the Chinese is the cheap stuff, japan has progressed so much they have now priced themselves out of the market, Taiwan is now replacing even china as the go to cheap stuff place.

Most machine tools like CNC mills come out of Taiwan, and are excellent quality.I don't understand why because Taiwan is still part of China. I guess being an island has it's benefits.

I can't figure out why everybody is blaming offshore manufactures for the quality of the goods they send over here. The importer or the distributer is the one who sets the standards and quality controll for the products being made.If you buy a replacement part authorised by G.M. that was made offshore it still has to be up to the standards set out by G.M.If you buy a unautherised part you get what the distributer wants to sell(Canadian Tire ,UAP,CCM,etc)price probably over quality. In business you have to make or sell what the customers want. The garage and bodyshop owners on this site should well know the customer dictates the price and quality of the work that gets done and depending on how hungry the shop owner is dictates weather he or she does the job or refuses the work.  Even the chinese will not buy there own junk . A little funny fact. I know a place that has parts made in china only one or 2 parts per factory because if they figure out the end use they will be your competition tomorrow . Anyway they buy the stuff by the container load assemble it in ontario stick a made in canada stamp on it because its been altered (government rules) then ship it back to china.  Quality means nothing to china you could have one of your own people inspect and seal a container of parts only to show up here still sealed full of junk they know shipping is going to kill you and everything is paid for before its shipped.

Evidentually then quality means nothing to the Buying public they are the end users and they seem to care only about price .The stores will sell what the public buys and at this point in time the public wants cheep crap made in sweat shops on the backs of slave labour.Quality means nothing to the average consumer otherwise they would be asking the stores for better stuff .If you want to change things you have to be the one who asks every time on every purchase.Otherwise you get what you deserve. And yes I mean if you buy cheep junk that is exactly what you should get.Every washer or stove I come accross, made in the last 5 yer is absolute crap.Electronics breaking every couple of years.New controll centers for them running $200 to$500 dollars, glass tops $400to$500,rear bearings on front loaders wareing out in 4-6yrs and needing the entire drum replaced because thats the way they sell them. Some of the washers without the adjaters in them can't even be fixed because they never worked properly right from the factory. This has been going on for years and I have had customers say this is the 3rd or 4t one they have had and still they bend over to the manfacture and say one more time, please sir .As far as I can see the consumer is more worried about style(do you really need a 7 cycle dishwasher or a steem cycle on your washer) and price than they are quality.I have lots of vintage appliances from the 20s thru to the 60s that are still working fine and get the job done ,so in the end you tell me what is cheeper price or quality. SHHH .I have 2 frigidaire front loaders one in each house I had given to me  because they where to expensive to repair. 1 had to replace the shocks 70.00 bucks 2nd I replaced the bearing and seal on the drum that they tell you you have to buy the hole unit. less then 50 bucks but time consuming If i had to do it again it would be a lot faster . I like to call it the bic lighter world. make it to last as long as the warranty then make any repairs you have to pay shop rate for more then a new one . The big manufactures don't want  you to fix it . Same mentality with cars today  remove and replace or buy a new one.

When I worked a G.M. we would sometimes run short of machined blocks and would have to get some from the States. I remember when we had ordered about 1000 blocks because of a machine break down on our line. By the time we got the blocks we were up and running our own again. The U.S. blocks were put aside untill we had a shortage again. 1 week latter the states were short so they order 1500 of our blocks. We sent them 500 of our blocks and the 1000 they had sent us. 2 days latter they kept our 500 blocks but would not accept their own blocks back. Says something about their quality when they wont take their own stuff back eh.

Just got off the phone with Newport Engineering.. They are the company I bought my wiper system from. I had sent them back the complete wiper system with my modified brackets and my bill of sale from 2009. They took my brackets off and put them on a completely new system and they are in the mail to me as we speak. Even though I had bought them in 2009 they gave me a new system for free and they paid for the shipping. Warrantee was over years ago so I'm very happy with the service I got. These guys get 2 thumbs up from me and a very high recommendation.....good stuff.

Great to hear a positive story about a company for once! Hooray for Newport Engineering. Ha! Try that on that other "National" site. As Hot Rodders, we NEED to hear about these companies so we can show our support for them. It's good for our hobby!!!! Hell, I don't even need a wiper motor, but I'm thinking I might pick up a spare anyway!!

It is good to hear that they stood behind it.
It would be interesting to know what percentage of hotrod/streetrod/aftermarket stuff sits for several years before it gets used.
I know I have a ton (enough to build a car or two)of stuff that is at least 2 years old and some 10 years old that I have not got around to using yet.

lol.
I agree lots of new parts might be a couple years old before its installed or used.
That's great they replaced it and based on that, I would buy from them for sure.
