Personally , I wouldn't buy it because I'm not crazy about how it looks . I'm sure the guy has got a gazzilion $$ tied up but that's the chance you take trying to unload a heavily customized vehicle . I check out the Cars on Line and the Streetrodder sites all the time and the customs seem to sit for a long time with no takers . JMO
Do I like it ,yes he absoutely nailed the 60s show car look which is a favorite of mine.I love the custom car, angle hair wild desplay look of that era.Would I buy it,no way as it will always be that guys car ,never yours unless you change a lot of things, then whats the point. If I had the kind of money it would take to buy it ,I would rather create my own dream car.Not just customs but rods and muscle cars fall under the same scope for me.The only exception to that rule would be if I was able to buy something like The Little Coffin,or a custom from Barris,Roth or the Alexander Bros. Then the builder is just as important as the car.Its back to the idea of do you buy a well known car from your area.Again for me the answer is no because everyone has seen the other guy drive it to the local shows for years and to me it will always be identified as his unless you make major changes to it.I guess the key would be how well known is the car and how much do you want it. Trouble with building a car like that to ones personal preference/ideas, is trying to ever sell the thing to someone else.
Tie up thousands of $$$$$$$$$$$ building it, then the novelty wears off, and you can't get rid of it, unless you dump it for 1/3 what you spent on it.
Thankyou Dave that was kind of you to do that. I am surprized at the selling price.Seems cheep for an unusual car, concidering run of the mill Vetts and TBirds were going fo twice that price.I wonder if the fact it wasn't on prime time TV,or if it was I missed it, affects the price.Or maybe the custom thing is passed, as has been suggested by others on this thred. I was going to say, that car would not sell for as much as an original '57 Bird.
And it looks like it didn't.
There are some things you just don't mess with.
