I drove mine there and back after the show 2 years ago....... in the snow and crap
All the "Hard Core" rat rodders were loading into trailers.....
Bunch of wanna be's
I though you were hard core........but i see....your NOT!
Since when is a RAT ROD....a trailer queen?
WANNA BE......im sooooo disapointed
New name....Fatstax/Wannabe
All talk...........
sorry grump but if you drove a car like that in that kind of weather i can think of a more appropriate word for you, i would drive no problem in better weather as it was never my intention for it to be a bad weather vehicle. i dont see people driving ferraris and lambos in the slop, you must not think much of your car to subject it to that, just sayin

Hmmmmm........ How did you get a safety? I didnt know the MTO had a clasification for "Fair weather vehicle"....I will have to look that one up
No offence.....BUT....your RAT ROD ...."aint no Lambo".....A $5-10,000 POS.....aint no lambo
"Drove my car in weather like that"? ....another word for me?....like...Dedicated....like confident in my car......smart enough to put a heater in it?
You must not think much of your car????? really?....Its over eighty years old!....you think it was covered in a garage all its life? it was built to be driven.....so I DRIVE IT
you know.....fat/wannabe....I finally figured you out.....
You hover on this site.....spewing crap and bs to EVERYBODY.....your all "Gangster" and " Hardcore".....I dont see you contribute WITH PICTURES for others to trash like you do to them
You ask me if I get a "2-4 safety" when Im three days into a build.....I would put ANYTHING I BUILD against what you build...any day.
I have never used a "2-4 safety".....how come you know so much about them?
I have had dozens of calls from other members asking WTF is up with that Fatstax?....what kind of __________ is he? ( you fill in the blank....many others have already)!
I have had enough of your crap.....from this moment on...I will not respond to ANYTHING YOU POST....BE A MAN....AND DO ME THE SAME FAVOR!
Have a NICE DAY .................Trailering your RAT ROD

holy ****, relax, ur going to pop ur ticker. what i also meant to add is that i doubt i can show up to a show like that with road salt and slush and let it get all
over the shows floor, heck im putting a tarp under it so it wont be covered in snow and salt, i doubt they would let you in being all messy this time of year. i
have vehicles that i drive no matter what its like outside, what i meant to say to you is i didnt think you would treat the cars you have built like a daily driver
given the rarity and uniqueness of them, as are mine, so take no offence grump, maybe read into it a bit before going off like that.
I think its a non issue anyway since the deadline to enter was january 25
Worked with a guy back in the late 70s named Chris Adams was a member of the road runners . he had a sweet 31 or 32 chev that he built up from junk. I was more into bikes then but this car was tits. remember him Driving it to one of the january shows from millgrove and his only complaint was he wished he had installed a heater. Don't think trailering it crossed his mind. Talented Guy learned a lot from him.
there is still some spaces so they squeezed me in. if the roads were dry and it wasn't too cold I would likely drive it but the heater is weak at best. I dont imagine that they would let cars in covered in slush and slop, would make quite a mess I would think
A few years back (2009) i drove the Comet there with the NMCC and back to my drive way on the Sunday night........ but it was a pretty good dry and snow free Thursday night as well as the return drive Sunday night. I had it easy but if i did have a trailer i would have used it!
Here's the video of the blessed event.
Sorry the video is total crap as it was filmed off the T.V. since the original video is on 8mm film.
Oh and yes i will be going this year, never miss it. My bit of spring in this crap Winter. I love going on Sunday so i can watch, smell and hear all the Hotrod's driving out of the building at the end of the day.

anyways couldn't bring truck to mega speed, they first told me they could fit me in , then they couldn't, then they could, but too late to line up buddy's trailer, so next year I think. mega speed express leaves the Burnham street car pool in Cobourg at 945 am Sunday, one seat available if anyone wants to go

It doesn't come as a surprise, typically they require pics way ahead of time to book a car in. Unless you know one of the organizers, and they'll take your word for it.
I don't like to be negative, but that show sucked. If it wasn't for Jerry and Fast Elvis' company and some of the great guys there, it would have been a waste of a day. Sherwood's car looked awesome and a select few neat builds. Great to see Terry from Canadian Hot Rods there (...support that magazine...he works hard at it and does a great job...and a good guy to boot. No wonder he's our West Coast contingent of the ELTA!) There's no atmosphere there...no buzz. Two years ago it was a great show. What happened??? I thought they had a great formula out of the gate. What changed?
I don't think they'll get my 20 bucks next year. That was not a "Hot Rod and Custom Car Show". Canada's biggest indoor hot rod show and they couldn't splurge to have the CANADIAN RIDDLER AWARD-WINNING car there??!! Big "oops" I think. I don't claim to know the politics or costs behind a decision like that, but it seems to me that car should have been there. For all I know, maybe the owner (JF) didn't want the car there, but I can't imagine that.
My apologies for the negativity...just my 2 cents.

We thought the show was okay. Far better than a local show here. Some nice cars/trucks. I maybe brand specific to own but certainly appreciate all makes and models. Alot of time and money went into these. Also gives great ideas for future projects, ideas. I would have stayed longer but my health limits things sometimes. There seemed to be something for everyone there....Muscle Cars,Rat Rods,Hot Rods,Oval Track, trucks, imports, tractor pull trucks.
One of the most neat sleeper cars I saw...was a Miata ragtop with a LS motor. 10.54 E.T. awesome sleeper.
We enjoyed ourself and it wasn't over in 5 min. To each their own I guess but my expectations are probably different than most.
I drove from south of Picton, almost 3 hours, but it was worth it. Talked to good friends, met new ones, saw some really nicely constructed cars as well as stockers, walked every square acre, quickly passed some areas that didn't interest me but give them credit and thoroughly got my $20 worth.
Spent about an hour talking to Sherwood. First time meeting, awesome car. Hope to park beside him at an event soon.
Had a nice conversation with Cliff. Didn't realize his car was kicked out of Candy's shop to make room for mine. There are many great things about the coupe but I think the best thing happened by accident. The exhaust manifolds burnished and blended perfectly.
With the story behind it, John's car should have been on it's own dais. Great talking to him.
Donnie's '57 epitomised the gasser era, I think he has to go up against Terry Denomme and Jeff Norwell. Love those '57s
It's been a money pit but it's really come out right for Larry.
I've always had a soft spot for Divco's but the horn has to go.
I think we get slightly jaded because of all the opportunity we have to see cars at all the cruises. Back in the late 50s and 60s unless it was a local car, we only got a gathering of what was out there at places like London, Barrie or the CNE show. After this 'go on forever' winter, it was just great to see the hobby is still alive and well and hear some familiar voices.
I have to agree ,it was the best $20 I have spent latley.A nice sunny day Fatstax,RatrodMike and I off to the big show.No disappointment here. Lots to see. In the first room a nice Green Chevy sedan a 35or so very cool headlight treetment.Next up a Divco milk trucc really done nicely. Met John and his duce and talked all things OntarioRodder related. Next we run into Keith and his buddy who were there to see The Count amd they were also happy they made it to the show. Mike seemed to know everybody at the show so I got to meet some new hotrod people. Lunch, than into the second building lots of nice rats and some ideas that stood out ,some really nice builds. There was acouple of nice gasser builds but this year ProStreet seamed to be the big thing. Lots of stockcar booths and the sport was well represented with many different racing styles and equipment displays. I talked to acouple of Armdrop guys and we were all really looking forward to the new season as there may be 4 events this year. Never did meet up with T.J.but he texted us saying he was finally there as we were walking out the door. So the Ratlers had 5 guys there today, even if we didn't all arrive together. What a great break from this horrible winter,a chance to have a short road trip with friends to checkout some cool rides on a bright sunny day. What else do you need. Ed
Every year everyone comments that they liked or disliked this show with more for the dislikes. This year is no different, I agree with John in saying it looked like there was a lot of filler. I think this show has a lot of potential and they should talk to their customers to hear what changes they could make. I understand that they're trying to make it successful by appealing to the masses, but personally I think they should scrap the boom boom tuner room. I definitely missed the ELTA couch!
After seeing all of Grumper's pics, It looked like a pretty good show to me! Maybe most of the negative comments were from those that were spoiled by the outstanding show at Detroit? I saw lots of high quality rides in Grumper's pics though and likely should have gone myself.

Looks like Grumper liked the same cars as we did and it looks like we weren't the only ones who didn't manage to make it into stereo section.Nice pictures thanks for posting. Ed
It's true. $5000.00 and a trophy, the owner had the truck built by Hot Nights and the builders excepted the award on behalf of the owner. He has no interest in showing the truck it was the guys that built it, they organized the whole thing and the owner never even came to the show once. after they show it for a bit the owner is going to use it to haul luggage in the back at some resort he owns....they were beside me that's how I know. Nice guys.

Chris I was lucky enough to win top 10, Mothers award, best in my class and best Nostalgia drag car....but I was the only gasser in the show, still it was nice to hear all the compliments and see the look on faces that remember the old gassers. HRD
