I've been following the drama on another "National" site lately and boy, I just have to say how glad I am to be here and I'm very thankful to Poncho for providing a great cyber place for us to hang out! I've seen so many sites crumble due to various issues, and I'm stoked about how lucky we are that Poncho is a relaxed leader and only steps in when it's really necessary. The site runs extra smooth because of it.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!

I have seen that thread on that site and have been following it. Not quite sure what to make of it.

There are some people over there that take things way too seriously.

The biggest complaints over there seem to be no PMs and the lack of being able to upload pictures. I guess Frank must have to pay for the bandwidth used and it must be costing him a lot or he is trying to make money at it.

I think one of the differences are that I dont have any money involved in running this site. Once you start paying for these things and require sponsors etc, I think it adds a lot more pressure. This site is on a free web provider service. I am not sure how they pay their bills, I dont really see many ads on here, but as long as they are willing to provide free service, I am happy to put the time in.

We are at just about 900 members now and I am a bit leery about letting it get too much bigger. I dont want them to start pressuring me to go to a paid plan. I will be keeping it at under 1000 members if I can. Once it gets near that, I will start deleting accounts of people that have never posted and have never returned for a long time.

Good thinking! See, you've even got the foresight to keep things on track BEFORE they go off track!

Ya, really unfortunate. That used to be an excellent place- good cross section of people from coast to coast. Then a few years ago, most of the good posters/guys just started dropping off the site, and never came back Frank dun $hit in his own nest by not addressing concerns by just about everyone. nonono

There are a few over there that will defend to the death - Coming soon? I am sick to death of the old "His site, his rules/ my way, or the highway" which seems to work on the HAMB, but not so much over there. I still check in.

I can only add to what everybody has allready said..Great site, great bunch of members,

Harry you a good job of not getting your shorts all wound up when a little debate happens and when it gets going on a bit to long/or to heated, I like how it just vanishes like it never happened with no speeches and no drama ..works well for me..I like the openess of this site ..

The other site is run by a controlling person who has to have total control of every picture and word.. but even more than that he is a great procrastonater, always going to address this or that ..never does anything just a talker, It was great place alsoin times gone past. I still really don't have issues with the guys who are still there ..It is not the members fault as what happend on that board, it was the man like Parklane said that **** in his own nest..Lucky for all of us most have found their way over here and a million other great, talented, and good guys have brought a good part of Ontario Rodders to-gether..Looking foraward to many good years ahead..and your idea of keeping it smaller is a great idea..smile

Thanks Harry A lot of us appreciate your time for looking after this site without a lot ...NO" to the board ..You need to start a BC board and an AB board for the other provinces and then an International site .....lol

I agree Wayne, if there is a need out west, someone out there can address it and keep it local....well local to them anyway.

I'm actually glad all that drama keeps happening over there - it makes me appreciate Poncho and this forum that much more!!!

I also feel privileged to be one of the thousand lucky ones that will enjoy this forum for many years to come!

Yeah Ponch I moved over from the other other other site when you fired this one up. I think I was very close to being one of the first members. I had my doubt if this site would fly. No more doubt the members are a great group and the topics are real. Well for the most part anyway...lolbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Kudos to you bud.

I agree, this is a great site to hang out at. It's my main hotrod forum I go to. Best part I think is that it's way more local than the other sites I have frequented.
I have gotten to hang out with a bunch of new friends because of this site. I have learned a bunch too.
I hope I have helped others too, because I know others on this site have helped me.

So a big thanks to Poncho for starting this site up and keeping it going when not so friendly words were being exchanged.

Ya ,I know I am one of those lookyloo's, like only a few posts, but I like the back and forths on here and everyone seems to be straight up. I don't participate very often ..first of all I cant type worth a ****, second I spend a lot of time in my shop, and third I signed up and posted a couple of time with apparently a not traditional question, you all know where i'm talking about so I got a little gunshy. All that said I hope to stay one of the 1000 Keep up the good work.......Jim

A lot of good info here, along with a bunch of older guys that remember the old days, some that are knowledgable about drag racing both now and back in those days, great to remember and hear about the days when there were way less restrictions.

Not a problem.....This deletion of members will only happen when we get 1000 members....Also, anyone who has posted at all will not likely get deleted. It will also go on a members last log on. If you log in regularly, even if you have no posts, you wont be deleted. We have some members that joined and never came back to visit....they are the ones I am talking about.
