I am looking for paint or paint codes to paint my 34 chev pick up
The colour is swift red . The paint houses I have been to look at me
like a deer into headlights, or if I have an account or will I be purchasing
the paint from them???
Any one have some paint codes for swift red gm commercial color
thanks joe mac
Since you're painting a complete, just go to NAPA and go through their "spectramaster" chip book for their Nason colours and pick a red that's close. Nason base is an excellent product, but is limited in the colors it comes in. If you try and match a certain paint code, you will pay 5 times more, and you will be forced to buy a water based product. Nason comes in both Base-Clear or single stage. If it was me (especially with red) I would spray Nason base, then clear with the best clear I could afford. My 2 cents !!
Don't have a colour chip of swift's red to start with .So I really don't know
what tone of red I am looking for. I really don't want a ferrarri red or hooker lipstick red.
Just a plain commercial red .
Then go through the book a pick a colour you like. The book is laid out so that the colour chips go from one spectrum of the rainbow to the other and there's probably 50 reds to choose from.
Budwieser red is cool. My buddy has it on his 67 malibu and it looks sweet.
There's a good idea !! Joe could bring a case of Bud over to my place, and I'll empty them. This way I could give you back the empties to use as paint chips.
I can get you the budwieser paint code if you want.

There's no such thing as a "Budweiser" paint code that would be available to the masses. The paint code is probably a close guarded secret. "Coke red" is another term that's thrown out there with no validity.Do you really think these companies would just give everyone access to their paint recipe? Not !!
That car above was painted with a colour that is probably 99.9% close to the original formula. The high cost of paint is not necessarily just the cost of the product, but the technology that goes in it to make perfect colour matching possible. If Joe goes in and orders a specific automotive paint code, it will cost him a whole lot more than if he picked a "standard" colour from the Spectramaster book even though the colours will be almost identical, especially with a solid colour.
The only time someone should pay the high price for a certain paint, is when a colour has to be exact. Even then, there are many variants especially with white. Been doing this for too many years.
Budweiser sponsored the speed shop where this malibu was built. The builder had specific written permission to use the official budweiser red on this car. We have that code. Whether or not it could be reproduced legally is another issue. But 99% there would work just fine.
we just had the hood re-painted and it is a perfect match.
Must be nice to know everything.

Coca Cola red is a guarded colour.
A friend in Kelowna got permission to use it on an old Diamond T truck.
If you want the original colour for the Chev. can you take in a small part to have it matched?
A glove compartment door, if it has one.

Why would you add a smartass response like that when all I'm trying to do is help Joe out? You and a couple others on here have got to stop trying to read between the lines, and causing issues when none are warranted !! I don't claim to know everything, but I have been painting for over 25 years and my Dad worked for Dupont for 25+years so I do have an idea.

"Do you really think these companies would just give everyone access to their paint recipe? Not !!"
Your telling me how my car was painted with no knowledge whatsoever of it and I'm the smart ass???
You made a bad assumption. If you want to help people, that's good. But don't a smart ass like you have all the answers. I was trying to help Joe and you declared my response invalid.
Maybe it's just the way you express yourself that I don't understand. But that's what I get from some of your comments.

"Coke red" is another term that's thrown out there with no validity
Instead of trying to turn the tables here, maybe re-read your comments and address your bad assumption instead. You asked why I made my comment and I told you. Now explain yours.
That wasn't an assumption, but a fact. There's been many "Coke" red's since the 30's( up to 7 variants) and I have the paint code for 3 of them. The paint codes I have are not from Coca-Cola, but very close matches. I have never seen an actual code from Coke because they would not give out that information. Even if someone was able to get this so called "code", it would be useless without knowing the mix ratios of tints. Quit f-king arguing about useless crap unless it's warranted. Relax, sit back and have your wife give you a nice massage before you have a heart attack over nothing !! Geezz !!
Ya, too bad that mail order bride joke wasn't yours, Mein Fuhrer.
But what am I thinking? You know everything and probably thought it before someone else told it. You know, cause your dad worked for dupont and all lol.
Are these two still in this pissing contest .Geeze I get home from work and they are still at it. Take it to the off topic or what ever its called or pm each other ,but take a time out ,Please. Ed

reading 122 posts on "how cold it was this morning" gets a bit monotonous !!

Painted my 65 Chevy hondorus maroon in 1974. Colour was more red but on the dark side if you know what I mean. Came from a old colour book the high school had.
