I believe this project started life as a '40 Willys 4-door Sedan. Its builder set out to build it as a hot rod in the Australian 'Ute' car/pickup body style, as more of a custom than a gasser.
The project only progressed as far as is seen in the photos, and was left outside for many years. By the time I acquired it a few years ago, it had deteriorated significantly. Its condition now is very rough (photos were taken in May 2013), so finishing the project would take a lot of effort. As such, this may be better used as a parts lot for another Willys build.
Details:
- Although many of the body panels are heavily modified (main body, hood, fenders, and others) and very rusty (especially the right front and left rear fenders), everything including the front end is steel
- As noted above, the bodywork is unfinished and rough. Body modifications include the entire back half of the body done as a 'Ute' box, firewall, floors, roof, front fenders (modified for different headlights), doors (suicide), floors, and dash (it's a narrowed '60 Chevy passenger car dash, but the passenger side end isn't finished).
- I am told that all of the panels started as Sedan pieces and were modified as needed. The roof section and doors do have a 'Coupe'-ish look to them, but none of them are actually Coupe pieces.
- Chassis is the stock Willys frame with a professionally installed Mustang II front cross-member and mounts for a Chrysler big-block and 727. There is no rear end (the wheels and axle it is sitting on in the photos are just blocked in place, and do not come with the lot).
- The mockup engine block and transmission case mounted in the chassis go with it. They are old, and empty. I have a supposedly rebuilt 383 that I'd intended to use. Will make it available to the purchaser for $600.
- The front end does roll with wheels and tires mounted, but none are included. As noted above, there is no rear end. I will assist with loading it onto a trailer.
I have many more photos of the body/chassis and all of the pieces included in the lot (some of them are not pictured in the 12 shots that eBay allowed). Message me for the link.
Based on the lot's very rough condition, I recommend you come and see it in person before purchasing. It is located 10 minutes away from Winnipeg International Airport, and I'll be happy to pick up anyone flying in.
I'm only offering local pick-up on this lot. I will help to load everything into the body/chassis and onto a trailer, but if the plan is to send someone to pick it up, all of those shipping arrangements will need to be made by the purchaser (note: the car is in a city, and my back lane is only large enough to accommodate a normal-sized car trailer or flat-deck tow truck, not a semi).
The lot can remain stored in my yard at the purchaser's risk for up to 45 days after purchase at no charge.
Payment terms: $500.00 non-refundable deposit via Paypal within 24 hours of purchase. Balance is payable within 10 days, either in cash on pick-up or via mailed cash equivalent if not picking up within 10 days.
I've built a 40 willy's sedan....shinny stuff $$$$$......but would make a unique rod....have some parts for it if the buyer is interested.....too bad its so far away
