Was checking out Rocketman's build and thought I'd share one I have on the go too. This one started out as a quick fix and go but turned into a bigger job as they want to do sometimes.
The frame was junk, so a donor was located. The 330/glide was pulled for another future project and replaced with a 455/th400. Black buckets and console was retained, vinyl roof was not. All trim is shaved, holes filled, lower quarter patches done, drivers front floor replaced, inner rocker repaired at cowl, repairs to trunk lid shell, L88 hood scoop installed on one hood, '67 Stingray scoop for the back-up hood (had a spare hood so why not!!), chrome reverse rims with raised lettering for that 70's vibe with paint to match. This one should be done over the next month.
Looks like a nice solid car. The rear lower quarters look a little iffy as mine were. I really like your color choice too. I see your going with pretty much the same power plant / trans as I did. Looking forward to seeing it finished.
You can actually see the real colour in this picture.
That's it for now.
Looking good. Colour looks great. One bit of advice re blower motor. Check and change it now. I had to do it on my 70 cutlass. I had to remove the wheel well to find the blower motor.
Took a bit to figure that one out.

Good advise on the blower motor! It gets a bit snug in there.
I wrestled with the paint choice for a while (don't we all) but felt this colour would be an attention grabber.
Rocketman, I had the same repairs on the lower quarters and dealt with the same crappy patches you did. By the time I was done I might as well made my own. These "replacement" body parts are ridiculous sometimes. I'm working on another car that I may do a post about too, I installed a NOS replacement quarter (lucky I found one but two would have been better!) on one side and had it in place and lined up perfectly in about 2 hrs. The other side was aftermarket......6 hrs later it almost looks as good but not quite in behind the bumper/taillight area. The reliefs and curves are just not perfect. Crazy.
Oh almost forgot the colour is actually out of Eastwoods catolog. "Malibu Sunset" it' pretty close to the Corvette orange colour that is popular. It sprays pretty good, covers well and should shine up well after some colour sanding.
Clicking along still, can almost see the finish line. Seats are just about completed, some paint work done, more to go, couldn't resist trying out the hood trim. Hopefully send it out for the re-chrome over the winter but it will work for now.
man i am jealous of you guys pulling this stuff off. coming up in the day we didn't get into this as there was always lots of cars around to drop some power into. great choice on the color, keep it coming.
ps; just thought of something, i know a guy down here that has been racing old's for years and if you need something i will intro you to him if needed.

My part is all done, outside pics not the best because a storm was chasing me onto the trailer. Off to it's new owner to attend to the small details and I'm on to the next one.
