On 1987 chevy 305 TBI with the coolant sensor on the front of the intake where can you install a mechanical temp gauges ? I have tried to tee in to the coolant sensor put gauges would not work and yes I tested the gauge in hot water and it works good any help would be great Thanks
Its a messy job....We did my sons car last summer. Even if you drain the rad.Your still going to wear it. Took about 40 min, wired the guage too, installed under dash. Works great.
Good luck
I have Classic Instrument gauges with an electric fan in my coupe , the sensor came with the gauges and I hooked the fan with the sensor and a digital controler ,preset the controler to turn the fan on at 180 off at 170 and it runs about 190 give or take,, but a blower motor is pretty sensitive to heat...detonation sucks..gauges work, just sayin..jim
I don't think it is the gauges. If any air is in the cooling system it will rise to the manifold and give false readings. Make sure the area around the probe is well purged. Just a thought.
never put your your sensor in a port in the water pump ,to much cavitation, it will not give you an acurate reading,,just my opinion..jim..on a sbc use the port on the driver side head...Im just an old guy with a little experience,,,,,Don't sue me..
