Used to be a Corvette running around with " R SOLE" on the plate, and always wondered how they granted him permission. I later found out his last name was Sole. I tried to get "WILD 69" for my 69 Road Runner back in the 80's when they first started issuing personalized plates, but was turned down. The letter they sent me claimed my choice had sexual connotations.
Don't have one, but an old guy was travelling down to Florida when a girl in i think a Mustang convertible passed him, he said her plate read " 38D Cup " Lol

they gave it him cause he had a corvette, only r soles drive them. you should try for PNISFACE, im sure you would get that one
had original 48 plates on my 48 F47 but when I got them had to send them to ,,I think dot to have them approved. It was called YOM year of manufacture program,,FREE,, just had to pay normal fee like sticker. You can still do it if the numbers are ok but the cost is still the same as personal plates....ARSOLES....
Back when the earlier incarnation of plates came out and vanity plates were still not available, you could order a plate using the three letter/three number combination. The best one I saw was 'TWO 469'. Don't know how that one got by. The plate on my Cutlass is taken from the advertising that year, I tried for 15 years to get the plate '62 F85' but it was always deemed a farm plate until YOM plates were issued that they finally allowed. They hummed about 'DOG SPIT' but did issue it.
Nothing too mysterious here. I had chosen the colour and in fact I think it had been painted, anyhow some of us were sitting around discussing the next step and of course enjoying the mandatory wobbly pop when (did I mention I have an Irish Wolf Hound who like to eat plants for her digestion) Molly, after having just consumed a reasonable portion of my wife's garden, suddenly spit it all out. Well the first comment that came out of anybody's mouth was that's the same colour as your car Warren. Well, I liked that and it had a nice irreverence to it. The plates were issued.

I'll post this over at the build also just in case.
