I just checked the St. Catharines Kijiji site and they list quite a few T Vs. Try checking your local Kijiji site for a T V. There was one for $250. a 40 inch 1 year old unit.
We have had this discussion again and again . I have nothing against the Chinese products .They are made to the standards set by the stores that import them . The problem is with ,the standards . If these products were manufactured in Oshawa or Windsor to the same standards that these stores demand to reach a certan price point, the end product would be just as crappy. Its the standards that are the problem, as well as the cheepscate consumers nowadays. Most people today only care about price ,if it only lasts a couple of years, so what, there will probably be a newer one out with more features anyway. Ed

Agreed, there is nothing wrong with Chinese products, depending on what you're buying. Western consumerism is what has done this to manufacturing. I blame the early sell-outs of the fat CEO's having to make more profit for starting this mess. Once that ball got rolling, it could not be stopped. Other companies had to follow suit to survive. The remainder of the issue lies within those who must fill their homes with as much cheap crap as possible...shop till you drop and do it all over again because it does not last.
Me? I avoid wal mart like the plague. It just feels like a thrift store. Low class everything. I buy less, but buy better where possible
I think I've settled on a 52" sharp aquos on kijiji. It comes with a wall mount which I need.I know that sharp pioneered the LCD and I've always considered them to be the best or one of the best. About 10 or 11 years ago I saw the first LCD carried by Futureshop. It was a 32" sharp aqos and was $6000. I was so impressed that I bought it. Got it for $5000. It had it's own separate receiver unit. It died on me once about six years into it the the repair guy said it was worth fixing. He said the TVs today are throw aways if they break. One important feature is the HZ. The cheaper TVs are 60HZ but the better performing ones are 120HZ especially for motion. Most people don't even look at that .
