I can see why the guy in the Ford p/u was pi$$ed, cuz the clown was driving in the hammer lane. That winds me up too. If you're in the left lane, and someone wants to pass, MOVE OVER. What speed you're traveling has nothing to do with it. If he wants to pass, let him pass.

"This happened to me on SR 41 in Tampa on Monday March 24th. This pathetic excuse for a human being tailgated me for about three minutes. After about a minute, and me shaking my head, I pulled out my phone and started recording. I couldn't move over because there were trucks in the right lane, and I sure as heck wasn't going to speed on a rainy day with the roads being as slick as they were. I was turning left in about a half-mile when this happened. Now bear in mind, that this guy had already passed a truck in a left turn lane, was tailgating and driving recklessly on a wet slick road, wasn't paying attention, and all in all being an ignorant ass. In the full video which I will post later, you will be able to see that not once was I mouthing off, I never brake checked him, and in fact until I watched the video after the accident I didn't even know he shot a bird at me because I wasn't looking at him at all, I was paying attention to the road while holding the phone up with my right hand. I've recorded circumstances like this before, catching idiots doing stupid things, but never ever had this happen.
He initially fled the scene of the accident, but thanks to this video he has been caught and charged. Massive props to the Sheriffs Department and most especially the Highway Patrol who responded to the scene. This moron could have easily killed somebody with his moronic behavior, and my laughing at the end would have been replaced with tears. Needless to say though, I've never seen Karma come back so fast."

being in the us of a, is every two laner like that? the left lane being the hammer lane? did this driver indeed have to move over or speed up to accomodate the douche behind him? in the video it looks like the guy in front couldnt move over as there were cars beside him almost the whole time.

She could have easily moved over to the right, in front of that white pickup truck and angry dude could have continued on his way. Maybe if she had focused on DRIVING instead of videotaping, none of this would have happened. She obviously was spending WAY too much attention on "getting the shot" rather than just moving over and letting the impatient driver pass and continue on his way.
She mentions this isn't the first time it's happened, just the first time she's caught it on tape. That means to me that she is regularly a left lane HOG and gets a kick out of pissing people off. Tired of people tailgating you? Then get out of the passing lane.
Dumb ______ (female dog).
Couldn't have said it better myself. If you're being tailgated in the left lane, MOVE OVER, the person behind you might quite possibly be dealing with an emergency also.
People like that don't get into accidents, they cause them!
A little bit of common sense and courtesy goes a long way, in making the roads safer.
That's a handheld device isn't it? Is that any more legal or safe?

A good example of why 2 dicks in one place will cause problems.
I totally agree with this comment. The driver of the black pick up is an idiot because he wasn't able to control either his anger or his truck. The second "dick" is clearly a left lane HOG who could have prevented all of this by just moving over THREE MINUTES BEFORE this happened, when she realized someone was rapidly approaching from the rear (assuming she was paying enough attention to her driving to see him approaching in the first place).

TWO dicks is entirely correct here.
s. 147 states that if you are travelling at less than the normal speed of traffic (not the speed limit -the speed of traffic flow) you "must travel in the right most lane".
If you are in the leftmost lane and not tavelling at the normal speed of that lane you "must move" into the centre lane, and if you are in the centre lane and not travelling at the normal spped of traffic in that lane you "must move" to the right lane again.
Section 147 thus also confirms you may travel in the left most lane at anytime, and not only in the centre lane, provided you are not slowing down the normal traffic flow in that given lane.
If there are only two lanes of traffic in each direction,
s. 147 still permits you to travel in the left most lane provided you are not travelling at less than the normal rate of speed in that lane, while s. 150(b) permits you to pass to the right when traveling in the left lane.

oh no what will I do? what does it matter? the guy in the truck got what he deserved for being an impatient a$$.
I only saw one dick. She was passing other vehicles and this was not a highway, only a divided roadway with exits on both sides. She had the right to be in the left lane. A major series highway is a different story, but only to an extent. If she is continually passing vehicles, she's in her right to stay there and continue passing, even if it is not as fast as the guy behind her likes. If I'm passing at 20+/- over, I don't dodge into traffic and slow down just to let someone else go by. He can wait until I'm done passing.
I do love Karma. I would have laughed at him too. I wish I saw more karma with the goofs I see passing up and over hills.

Correct. Since she was overtaking vehicles and travelling above the posted limit, she had the right to remain in the left lane. Who is to say that she was not also planning a left turn?

oh boo hoo parklane, looks like you wrong after all, HA!

She may not have been legally required to move to the right hand lane but, after noticing how wrecklessly he was driving (her own observation), why would she even want to block him for three minutes? Instead of focusing on getting the heck out of his way (whether or not she is legally required to) she chose to turn her attention to pissing him off even more by staying in front of him rather than moving over, "shaking her head" and then videotaping the event.
Just because she may have every legal right to stay in that lane does not make it the smart choice. Common sense would suggest that it might be in her own best interest to get as far away from this agitated pickup driver as possible. Blocking him for three minutes while wagging her head (yeah, doing that is sure to make him see the error of his ways) AND videotaping was just plain stupid. Did she cause the accident? No (if she was not legally required to move over). Could she have prevented the accident (and prevented a potential head-on collision) by simply getting out of this guys way? YES

Agreed D.B. he could have been nutbar enough to ram and push her off the road. Then she could have shaken her head while upsidedown in the ditch. She would of course still be, under the law ,in the right. Ed
one thing I noticed was the vehicles that were involved. The one was a large full sized pickup. The other a smaller vehicle.
If they were driving a big truck would this have happened. I do think it was two people out trying to be difficult.
I do agree with Parklane if you're out for a sunday drive out of courtesy use the sunday lane on the right.
I have found that when I drive my full sized 4 door 4x4 pickup I don't usually get tailgaters.
When I drive my wife's very small SUV everyone want to tailgate and I mean everyone.I am talking two lane roads.
Today we were going to town on a 2 lane road a person in a van right on my butt and I'm doing about 12KM over.
Maybe this person would have liked the other option of 12KM under,,,,,,, don't know I had to turn right.

If she was in the kitchen cooking her Husband a nice meal in her negligee for when he got home from work, all this would not have happened. WTF is wrong with women these days??

There is no doubt in my mind she was Dan.
But he was probably just as fast eating the dinner she prepared for him as he was getting his rocks off!! Leaving her plenty of time to venture out into the world just to piss off a guy driving a great big 4x4 FORD truck .......which he is probably driving to compensate for his other short "comings"
I do agree when I'm driving mine, It can be intimidating to other drivers, and if I can tell I'm freaking someone out, I back off or go around.
Wonder what the guy was in such a hurry for? No excuse for that really. If I felt justified to ride someone's bumper and give them the finger every time someone was doing something stupid on the road.....
I agree if someone is driving like a dill h*le, I want to get far away from them fast and if that means slowing down to let them pass or passing them. I'd rather live then be dead right.
Wonder if any of you guys or your mothers/wives or daughters have ever felt intimidated by some azzhole in a hurry???
I have learned I cant drive both mine and theirs at the same time and you don't know what they are gonna do if put in a situation like that so I error on the side of caution.
But have I been ticked off by someone jeopardising my or kids safety. Yes. If kids are with me I get away. Before I had kids..... I'd get over so they could pass and they would breifly feel my grill guard hit their back bumper just before they and their ride were in the ditch! Oddly enough, Art does not enjoy this kind of behavior and it was greatly frowned at.
Would I have recorded him losing it and screwing up his truck...... If I could do it safely... You bet. Looks good on him. But most likely when I was done driving over top of them.
But that just might be the cabin fever/snow talkin
And that's super b*tch to you DB Cooper. Just sayin

sorry but that is absolutely inane, she had no way of preventing it, this dude choose to act in this manner and nothing she could have done after he decided to tail gate her would have made any difference, I would imagine it was pretty firm in his mind to pass her at some point and flip her the bird and teach her a lesson by accelerating past her, well schools out boys and hes the one who got taught. I would think this guy is just a hot head dink who likely acts like this all the time, it was only a matter of time before he ended up in the rhubarb.
She DID say she had a left turn coming up. Why would she move over. I hate to admit it, but I agree with you...she was in the right and he got what he deserved. Can't help but think she was a tool for filming it though. She certainly put herself in harm's way for doing that.
The world is full of idiots.

I wonder how satisfied she would have felt if the truck had hit an on-coming school bus full of kids?
I've had my fair share of road rage moments in Scotland, and I have to say, I never came out on top.
Since I arrived in Canada, I've become that slow bastard everyone wants to get passed. Partly because I don't want to get deported, but mostly because I'm so happy to be here and just want to chill out and enjoy my new country

+ 1
The only thing I saw her do wrong was film it with a handheld device. But she's probably just as sick as I am seeing these idiots on the road every single day. Some days I wish I was a cop or had a dash mounted cam to report these Dickheads passing dangerously and running cars off the road. The highways are not a freaking video game. Maybe people who are caught driving dangerously should have to look at highway carnage footage and hear first-hand accounts of the tragic impacts to innocent people's lives. Driving fast is meant for the racetrack and only that.

This province is worse than many others except for our neighbors to the east. A buddy of mine from out West can't believe what a rat race Ontario is. Everybody is in such a goddamn hurry to get somewhere. Why rush to the grave? The dozens of roadside shrines should be enough to remind people.
She did not cause the accident, Angry Dudes stupid and wreckless lane change did.
That I agree with.
However, had she moved over earlier when she first noticed his wreckless driving, she would have eliminated his need to make the lane change that resulted in this accident. The lane change was the cause. No lane change, no accident. She had the ability to eliminate his need to change lanes thereby preventing what happened. She's just lucky this time (as are innocent drivers heading the other direction) that she didn't get caught up in the accident.
She may not have been legally required to move over, but as I see it, it would have been the smarteset thing she could have done (and a heck of a lot smarter than pissing him off even more by blocking him, wagging her head, and videotaping).
Just my opinion. And I have been wrong before, well, so I've been told but I don't really believe it
when i first started riding motorcycle i took a couple of safety courses. one thing that has always stayed with me is protect myself from the idiots because a bike will always lose ie don't ride in blind spots, don't tailgate and if im being tailgated get out of the way are a couple. she should have got out of the way. doesn't make her right just protects her from the idiots

Don't see how she forced him into making lane change
Cause of accident was him speeding and losing control of his truck trying to make unneeded lane change. !!!
I didn't see any flashing lights on his truck to signify volunteer fire call ect requiring her to pull over. Even with those lights they have to do speed limit and drive in safe manner.
The other driver cant cause you to tailgate and lose your temper. Last time I checked...... I'm still responsible for my actions.. and how I choose to respond to others perceived stupidity.
He could have easily forced her off the road or onto oncoming traffic causing her to hit someone else. And the law is on her side.
But cheer up my friend, you are right believing in your thinking you have been wrong before. Just not right about disbelieving when she tells ya your wrong.

Quotes from the driver/videographer: "Now bear in mind, that this guy had already passed a truck in a left turn lane, was tailgating and driving recklessly on a wet slick road, wasn't paying attention, and all in all being an ignorant ass", and "This pathetic excuse for a human being tailgated me for about three minutes
I agree with you, she didn't force him into making the lane change. That being said, if she had half a brain in her head, she could have predicted what he was about to do (pass her) and avoided a potentially VERY dangerous situation by moving over/getting out of his way. Her quotes clearly show she knew he was driving like an idiot. She was foolish not to distance herself is all I'm saying.
Many years ago I was driving east on a street that ended at a north/south street (I was the only one with a stop sign). My intention was to make a right turn and head south. This is a residential area and I am two streets from the street I grew up on, I know this area very well. After looking both south and north, I begin to enter the new street. Suddenly, I see a car heading south at an EXTREMELY high rate of speed (you can argue that I was in the wrong for entering a street when it was not safe to do so, but that would be incorrect. Due to a slight curve in the road, one can only see so far north. Anyone driving at a sane speed can easily be seen .... someone travelling at an extremely high rate of speed can not be seen until it is almost too late. I have options ...... If I stop mid intersection, I will either be T-boned and die or the speeding car is going to try to swing around me, possibly lose control and he (and possibly others) could die. If I continue onto the street and enter the southbound side of the road, I am either going to be rear ended (and possibly die or be mangled) or (once again) buddy is going to swing around me in an attempt to avoid and he (and possibly others) could die. I did not force this person to speed BUT my next move will quite possibly be very important to my health, the health of the driver of the speeding car (and others around us). What did I do? (and no, I did NOT wag my head at this person, or attempt to video the event), I drove straight across the road and entered someones driveway (I had no time to reverse back onto the road I was just on). Quite simply, I got the hell out of this morons way. He blasted past and no one got hurt, no vehicles were damaged. I had every legal right to enter the southbound lane, I was doing nothing wrong, it was not my fault this idiot was speeding (I clearly did not FORCE him to speed) but in my case, the safest option was to distance myself from the moron by getting out of his way. All I'm attempting to say is this, the woman in the car had options, she knew he was an idiot and driving like one too. Rather than distance herself from him, she chose to stay front of him, piss him off with the wagging of her head, and anger him even more by "digging out her phone" and recording. I feel she made a bad decision that could have potentially cost her her life or her health (as well as the lives and health of people heading in the other direction).
Once again, she didn't cause the accident, the other driver did because he swerved around her. He wouldn't have swerved around her if she had removed herself from the lane the idiot was in (in effect, distancing herself from this fool).
As seen in her video, she did have a safe opportunity to move over and chose not to. The results could have been catastrophic to her because of this jerk ...... why risk it?

Again, she passed 2 trucks and was allegedly preparing to make a left turn.
Why would she move over, just to get back out to turn left??
I love pouring coffee or pop out the window when some A-hole is tailing me.

I re-watched the video, the first 49secs of it, she did not overtake any vehicles, there was a section where it was actually 3 lanes wide.
So a quick calculation tells me that at 50k (30mph), she had 1/2 a mile to MOVE OVER! Who knows how long before she fondled the phone to get it to record, did she taunt him.
What she did, was just simply ignorant! Whether she had the right or not.
As seen in her video, she did have a safe opportunity to move over and chose not to.
Shop_Rat wrote:

I have already explained why (in my opinion) it would have been wise of her to move over.
It would have taken just a couple of seconds for angry dude to pass her IF she had bothered to move over (pretty sure he only slowed down to give her the finger because she was taunting him with the wagging head and video). Once he'd driven by, the left lane would be empty and she could safely move back into it, in preparation for the alleged up-coming left turn.

Interesting. So, these people you poured coffee on, did they suddenly come to the realization, after your coffee hit their car/truck, that rushing anywhere and tailgating someone was a bad idea? Did they suddenly change their outlook on things, pull into the slow lane with a "coffee pourer is right you know, I'll just get there when I get there", or did it do nothing more than piss off an already impatient driver even more, putting you and others around you at more risk than they are already in?
I wish you well in your travels.
My last post on this issue. I have clearly explained my point of view on this issue and have nothing more to say on this matter. I understand not everyone has the same point of view. Cheers

i concur with DB she should have got over, i say for safety and to be courteous. why i think this is that after being in the military and having driven all over the world where they have different driving laws, philosophy's and styles i have found that your typical north american thinks they own the lane and damn the torpedos to the rest.
i have noted we always have a disappearing slow lane especially on the highway, nobody drives in the slow lane because it will eventually turned into an offramp, i'm not kidding, keep track of it when your driving. pretty sure this is because of typical north american planing and design).
i found driving in europe they were always courteous and also noted its the fast lane thats disappears and you're expected to only move over to the fastlane to overtake and if someone flashes their lights in your rearview mirrior you're expected to move over because you are the slow person. in greece because the road are so narrow and twisty the slow cars are expected to crowd right over the shoulder so the traffic can get around them. italy again they have what is called the middle lane. nothing there really but the car passing goes to the center, straddling the dotted line, the slow car edges to the right and any on coming will edge to there right. another is when the light turns red the scooters and bike will weave thru the traffic to the front and when the light changes off they go. nobody is pissed its the way they drive. i also found it funny in that they don't cue up for anything who ever gets there first wins.
I also find that we think of driving as a right not an entitlement. having noticed that in europe they use many different modes of transportation and i think because we are so spread out in north america we really need our own personal modes of transportation. when my kid hits the age to drive hes gonna get his own wheels because is so far to town.
i usually don't type this much but i really do find your typical north american a rude and inconsiderate driver.
