Anyone use a Gear vendors overdrive.

I guess I am asking to late as I just ordered one this week.

Hoping to knock couple 10ths of 1/4, and save some gas on cross country runs.

 my rear gear is 4:56

Looked into them a few years ago. Very nice units. In the end I went with a locally built full manual 4L80 (no e). I was looking for a OD trans set up that could handel 600hp. In my case the cost of the GV unit plus building up the internals of a th350 or th400 was just a bit to much. Getting service for the GVunit was also a sticking point. I did not want to have to pull the unit and send it back south if someting went wrong. If you go to stevesnovasite.com and key "gear vendors" into the search area there are quite a few threads on the subject. Let us know how it works when you get it going. Regards

I got one to stick behind my 4L80E.
With 496 cubes, a bit of mileage will be nice.

Haven't got my project done yet but would like to know your thoughts when you get it going.

i only have 4oo hp but with a 4L6o which is its limit i was told.

with the gv it cuts the jump between gears to half which unloads the stress on tranny and will cut heat by 1oo degreesin tranny also.

it is expencive but you do get some pay back in speed wear and tear, and gas in double overdrive.

i will be the gini pig here and let you know what changes i get.

i do not know anyone running thisyet.

I'll be interested in your findings too, as I want to throw one under my Gasser behind the C-6 three speed auto.

The one I ordered is good to 1200hp it will turn my 4l60 into a six speed with double over drive which will knock my 4:56 rear gear back to almost stock 2:49 in 2nd over drive.

It's about the size of a coffee can. The closer ratios will keep her in the power band with less rpm drop off.

$2795 plus $85 shipping, they quote one week build time. I told them to ship on the 28th instead, so that I am home on vacation to recieve it.

I have talked to someone in BC that drove one 18 years trouble free, he sold it with the truck.

FYI ... it's much easier typing on this lap top than my phone earlier today.

I have drove to Texas2008, Oklahoma2010, key west 2012, one HR power tour 2007, and next year across Canada to BC.

93 Sunoco is about $100 a tank.
