Something I just recently found out from my Vet. Japanese Yew are highly toxic and can kill a full grow cow.The older they become, the more lethal they are. 2/5th's of an ounce can kill a Dog. My neighbor had one of these trees,we just finished taking the thing out. It is about 35 years old.Last Nov,this March and then again on Tuesday of this week, my Dog becomes lethargic, very slow heart beat, dialated pupils and non active. Take him to the Vet,go through everything that's in my backyard he can access, then I mention the neighbors Yew. He checks on line data base, comes back and the symtoms fit. We were lucky to get the same Dr. each time and he put 2 and 2 together. My Dog must be part Beaver, he's always got a stick in his mouth. Glad that mystery is solved. The same neighbor had a Golden Retriver for 13 years, died last summer of unknown cause. Wonder ???????????????? Keep your pets safe!

Thank you for posting that information John, I wasn't aware of that! Good to hear your dog is ok. Our dog is a Schnauzer/ Beaver, she is continually picking up sticks when we go for a walk, will have to put a stop to that! Used gum is another one of her favorite finds.
