Originally I posted that I didn't do anything this week. Bugged me so much I stayed up last night and made a air plate to be hidden behind speaker grill. Seam sealed it and one more coat of paint and it's done.image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Installed intake, carb, wires, plugs, headers, pulleys, power steering, rad, shroud, oil change, anitfireeze, distributor, and wheels. Its alive.

Just gotta take it over and get pipe bent up for the duals. Took her for a toot around block, open headers. Woke some neighbours up. They need lead in their pencil anyway.

Started installing the brass guides in my SBC 300hp 186 heads, the first 4 were almost perfect hope the rest go as smooth. Did some detailing on the kids Olds, engine bay, scrapped off 20lb. of crud and used 2 cans of engine degreaser to get it clean. Was going to paint it today but the home show is on, 4hrs of walking around, now I'm on the couch till Monday with sore knees and feet.

Took the cap off my pickup, moved the 5th wheel out of the mud. Put down some patio stones so the 5th wheel doesnt sit in the mud. .Should have done that last fall. Did some raking, its a real mess this year......Tomorrow is probably tractor tuneup and oil change day....

I slept in 'till 2pm, the wonders of working graveyard shift.blankstare
I did how ever manage to dig two fenders out of the storage shed for Hannu, took a few pics of them, but can't upload them onto the PC, the wife took the cord with her, to Cornwallcry

I also dug out a hood for a '38 Dodge pick up, that someone will be picking up Monday.

I also took the snow tires off, my daughter's car, and put on her summer shoes.

put 3 battery tenders on for the final top-up, put air in a tire on the old chryco and attached 2 storage shelves to the wall in the new shop. NAP. over to foxboro to help a couple of guys with their flood protection, sand bags-ouch, and back for a little shop clean up.

Got the truck out the first time this year and hauled three loads of branches from the ice storm away.

IMG_3231a (Medium).jpg

I then got the body up on the hoist for a test fit to the chassis. Tranny lines, dipstick tube and speedo cable all need clearance. Looks like I'm designing my car just like the big three. I'll be cursing someone when it's time to do some repairs under there.....

Just noticed how every little finger print and dust show up on my pictures. Gotta get a cheaper camera so it won't be as clear and not show that stuff....

Washed the salt and dirt off our truck then washed the 51 and got rid of 5 months of dust and dirt. Looks pretty good in the sunshine. Then cleaned and repacked the wheel bearings in the boat trailer. Getting ready for fishing at end of May. Watch out Stoney Lake.

Decided to build a tonneau cover for my truck. I figured a piece of aluminum diamond plate would look good as a cover.

Cut it out , bent it up. Made a couple of brackets for hinges to bolt in the box.

I still have some gas struts and a latch to make up for it but here it is so far.

Not sure what kind of setup you have there Pugsy, but I could show anyone interested the basics of TIG welding. I'm not a welder by trade, but could point someone in the right direction. I'll leave the metal shaping to the professionals !!smilesmile

Looking at your English wheel there hemi43 ...you make it or bought? If you made it you got the plans or just something you threw together?

Just something I threw together. It's nothing fancy but it works and doesn't take up much room. The large wheel is just a caster with a hardened surface.

I got my Trace A Punch running nicely today and cut out some 11 ga steel plates to go up and around the inside of the tranny tunnel. I will roll them tomorrow.

This thing is cool.

The template just rides against the punch and nibbles out  the  shape exactly.

I used some nice 1/16" masonite for the templates. Cut them out with snips and good to go.

Thanks Dan.

I'm very happy it went to a good home. It is an awesome machine, but not quite as good as a CNC plasma cutter !!

I'm going to have to google this "trace a punch" thing, never heard of it.

Just googled the thing.  Is that ever cool, and takes up minimal space.

They are difficult to find and very expensive, but work great especially for making multiple pieces.
