My buddy owns a scrap yard and told me I could strip some parts from a 2003 Grand Cherokee before it gets crushed. After getting what I wanted I took a stroll around to see what I could find. Lo and behold I spotted a vintage camel hump head in a cast iron pile. Looking closer I scored both a 291 head and a 186 head! The 291 is a 1.94 1968 head while the other 186 is a 1969 1.94. Both are desireable for rebuilds. Price for both? Free.....
If I have my facts correct they can be used together. Part numbers were changed over the years but the head patterns were mostly the same. Some had bolt hole bosses some didn't. I think the 2.02 valve head had a slightly different combustion pocket design..damn..you forget stuff if you don't use it eh....age.
on a side note what did you get from the jeep . I have a 01 grand ltd edition 60 th anniv , but its getting a bit long in the tooth though .
also I think the heigth of the hump tells the difference tween an early head and a later one . I think the later ones don,t have as good a port design or some thing like that . Could be wrong though . the cyl head numbers would tell a better story on the heads ..77.

77....Took the headlights, grill and tail lights. The head lights go foggy and the tail light sockets melt. Last time I needed a new tail light it cost me a c-note. The accessory bolt holes are the clue to a 69 and up cylinder head. Yes the humps are also smaller.
And I think they went to a tapered seat spark plug but don't think that was till 1971. Do both heads have the same size C.C. ? I know both are collectible and no trouble selling it in June
