I went to the Drag Racing show at the Hamilton Airport Sunday mainly because I had heard John Petrie was supposed to be there . He was not advertised as being there but one of his old racecars was schedualled to be unveiled after a extensive restoration. For full details on John google him. Briefly he was dominate in stock, ,super stock ,pro stock all in Chrysler race cars [95% hemi powered ] and ran the Chrysler Super Car Clinic as well as the BP Experimental Ford sponsored Cammer powered funny car[injected and supercharged].When Chrysler got out of Pro Stock at the end of 1972 John disappeared and until last Sunday didn"t think anyone remembered.I know he was overwhelmed by the long lines of people lined up to talk to him and or get his autograph.MY POINT after all this rambling is John has never been inducted into the Canadian Motor hall of Fame.THIS NEEDS TO BE Corrected.Their website is www.cmhf.ca. Lets get this done. Send a email asap. thanks
Bob
It is great that John is alive and well and does belong in The Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame.
There is a proper procedure to follow to get this started. Someone has to request the Official Nomination Form and fill it out. The information is on their web site.
John Waldie from Stratford is on the Nomination/Selection Committee and he was a big help to us.
We just finished all the paper work for our nomination of George Herbert. We were told it can take up to two years before a decision is made.
Thanks Will. In talking to one of Johns old crew he told me the paperwork was being done but I thought sending additional emails might add to the process. George Herbert definatly should be inducted and like Petrie should have been years ago. Waldie knows the history of both men and that should help tremendously.
