Wondering,, how much per liter is gas and diesel now in your area?
Just had another "Spike" Gas is around $1.40, a few stations are as high as $1.47, and diesel is still going through the roof at $1.54 up to $1.58 per liter.
I heard that in Montreal and BC it was over a $150. pr ltr..scary huh! or maddening.. I think it's conspiracy with the green energy act to drive the prices to support more wind turbines and solar ****..sometimes known as revenue tools for the LIBERALS..God every time I see her UGLY FACE all I can think of is somebody should shoot that witch or at least put her on a broom to search the Indian ocean for mh370 we should strap her to the Bluefin 21 and send her the bottom of the Indian Ocean ..
It's all tied to global energy policy, the low dollar and demand. The best and only thing we can do is drive less, decrease demand and prices will drop. Other than that,,,,,, welcome to capitalism.

Then the Greenpeacers would get you for polluting the seas.

Hydro and water are not global commodities. Driving less will not affect those things. I don't understand your point.
BC Hydro sells power to California cheaper than they sell it here.
Water is right up there next to gas.
Canada has the most fresh water in the world.
Watch someone try to control it in the near future. Maybe China?

In the Falls they were complaining we used too much water and they were going to have to raise rates to slow us down. So they raised rates and everybody went from nice green lawns to nice brown lawns . Then they said they were losing money on water rates because consumption was way down and they raised rates. Its a no win. Have hydro rates gone down since " SMART METERS" .
Screwy gas prices pop up all over,, 3 days ago in N. Bay gas was only $1.24 per liter.
We try and go to the rez in oshwegan about 20 miles from us usualy 10 cents less,, if you got an indian card and we don't it's 10 below that, but the burger barn makes burgers to die for worth the drive

Don't forget in the city they also charge you a sewer charge for watering your lawn . water rate x2

The sewer rates are a sorepoint. There was a huge backlash about 3 or 4 years ago and the city agreed to look in to them. We,re still waiting.
Buck forty one here .....too bad folks can't organize and all boycott one brand for a week or until the price drops .....then buy that brand and boycott another . Like we all have that much time on our hands !?
I wonder if you can legally dig a well on your in-town property.
Not sure about a well, but I know several people that have sand points on their property, and use them for watering lawns, gardens etc.
People drill for heat pumps, cant see why not
I have a well on my rural property. Sure, no sewage charge, but have to pay to pump the water....iron filter, water softener salt, UV filter, RO filter....pump the septic every few years......all that adds up too.

Yes I have the same setup and if you do the math it's probably more than municiple water and sewer plus the maintaince,,,whitch reminds me,,its time to replace my UV bulb 80$....
A sand point is a 3 ft pipe with holes or a spiral wound wire that is driven down to a water source and then using a jet pump to draw up the water. From there it can be hooked to a sprinker system or run to couple hoses. This will work only if the water table is no lower than 20-25 ft. If lower than the pump cant create enough vacuum draw to work. In my neighbourhood there many folks that have them. I have helped couple guys put them in.
I have one and its been fantastic ,fire it up and i can run multiple sprinkler heads.
The municipalty ran a sewer line down my road and the sewer charges are huge so this is a nice way to beat the system.
Down side is the grass grows and now its getting cut often,,,,,

Well, yes and no. Whenever we have installed a sandpoint, we force water into the top of the pipe, and gravity does the rest. When the end of the pipe gets close to the ground, we shut off water, add another length of pipe, start water, and watch it sink lower.

i'm thinking you would want to be checking about drilling for a heat pump in whatever city you are in.
