ya it launches pretty good but I think the valves need adjustment and perhaps that carb needs replacing, I cant seem to stop the black smoke so im thinking maybe im having valves staying open being a solid lifter engine.

Had a blast as usual! As my dad and I were leaving, one of the main organizers flagged us down on a quad and said we had WON the best Drag Car trophy. We were pleased (and surprised) as hell....

Link to pics and Trophy: http://imgur.com/a/kIMys

Our car was the 1953 Studebaker. First time ever on the track (I did bring it last year to the pits). Certainly wasn't very fast, but we intend to do something about that.

Thanks to the Armdrop bunch for the Trophy. Very honoured! Really made our day, in addition to the normal excitement.

Also, wonderful to see FlatBlack55 again this year. I tried to hook up a race with him (And that might have been a reasonable match as well). With the four lanes they did this year, the opportunity to line up with someone in particular was less certain. (Although, i did like the multi-lane effect on the length of the line-ups.)

May not make the June one, but hopefully be back for September.

that stude was impressive, I love oddball stuff like that but I would have thought that thing would have been a killer with all that engine, whats holding it back?

If it's the carbs, it's likely the enrichment circuit as it seems to only puff the black smoke between gears. The mains seem ok, I'm not sure what carbs you re running but you might find a way to slow down the squirters. It took off really well though and didn't seem to bog so it's kind of a mystery.

Rob, next time you race Ed, what you need there is a set up known years back as the "Intentional vacumn leak". A number of NHRA record holders ran variations back then , it works.

Enjoyed meeting everyone. Made the initial pass on the tunnel ram. Something not quite right but did get to the end and back. I'll check it over tomorrow. Didn't have much time yesterday but needed to establish a baseline with this set up. My Nemisis "gave" me the win to his credit. He braked just hard enuf so I got by. I forgot to take my hand of the brake AGAIN. I may be reaching the end of my driving days. Probably finish up the year and hang up the helmut. And then sell the car I guess although I hate the thought.

Anyone have a 4412-1 holley 2bbl, even a parts one I wonder

I'm not sure who to direct the big THANK YOU to for one GREAT DAY at the Armdrop , but it sure was a good one . Definitely pleased to put some faces to the names -- Flatblack , Hemi 43 , fatstax and especially re-newing my long overdue visit with DON ( Looking forward to you getting the dragster dialed in ).
A huge THANK YOU to WUGA for all of his work behind the scenes . I think I saw direction signs all over the County . What a sorry world it would be without volunteers !!!
It was my ( and my wife's ) first time at the Armdrop and for anybody who chose to to pass on being there , you really missed a good one. Thanks to the organizers and congrats to all the entrants for a great day . -- DON / fleet 51

Or  shift it with the gas pedal on the floor so that it doesn't get the extra fuel between the gear changes.

Thanks to all who made this County event the success it was. I know the threat of rain all week kept many away but for an early season date, the turnout was great. The action never ended and the variety of cars kept everyone's interest. Tons of great grudge matches. Hemi, love your dodge. Hope to see you all back in June and don't forget the there will be tractor pulls as well. Hopefully a little less wind.

Thanks again
Warren

I'm so sorry I missed it, I had other priorities. But I did see my good friend's Chevelle in the background in Hemi's video. Hell he wanted me to drive it.
I wonder how he made out, he had his hopes high, I was going to make it.
But sadly, family comes first, had to help my girl move.
It was more then I gambled for, thinking the young fellows would at least try to show me up,...but NOT...
Today's generation...you fill in the blanks.

I missed a great day, busted my A++...

But I did get a big Thank You and a Hug, so it's all good.

Sorry Joe, next time, if you need a hug brother, let me know. I'll give you one to, hell brother, I'll even kiss your forehead!

I'm comfortable with my manhood, just sayin'!

EDIT: You can't fix that with a hammer either.

It's not at all race tuned at this time. Needs carbs going over, timing, we found a pretty serious exhaust leak the day of the race, just came out of winter storage 2 weeks ago, etc. The car is relatively new to us (Sept 2013), so it still has a lot of kinks to find and work out.
