Good luck !! I went through the same thing a couple years ago. You'll be far better of to run a standard TV with an inverter. That's what I ended up doing. If you do end up finding a 12v one, usually they're a no-name brand, and more expensive. Current draw will be almost the same going through an inverter, so your battery life will be almost the same.

im running a solar inversion system in my flea market trailer, inverting to house voltage is the way to go.  i think you can buy appliances such as tvs that draw really low power for solar powered systems.  ordinary flat panels are power hungry i am thinking.

Yep, a Jensen 24" .....22 1/2 " wide , 14.6 " high and 2" deep ....$616.95 ( ouch !)

If you are further interested you can call Leisure Trailers toll free 1-800-363-8925 , ask for Nicole although others can help too .

When me and a few buddys went down to Bristol for the August night race we were there for the whole week. We were watching speed during the tailgating sessions and used 3 solar panels, a 12V car battery, an inverter, a shaw satellite and receiver and a 32" LCD TV. The system was self sufficient, meaning we had no downtime to let the battery "catch up".The battery was to enable us to watch the tube or have commercial free satellite music from dark until bedtime(wee hours of the night). As a matter of fact, we were getting a decent trickle charge over night by pointing the panels towards the yard light that was on all night at the "Shower Shack"! People would drop in to our camp and be all jealous that we were watching TV and drinking Margaritas - then we would say "Listen....do you hear that?" They would reply "I don't hear anything" Then we would point to the solar panels "NO GENERATOR!

A system like this shouldn't be much over about $400-$450 and will be free to run - + peace and quiet with no generator running!!!!

That's $400 to $450 including the TV! Insignia has an OK LED unit that can be had for $159(on sale) to $179 at Best Buy/Future Shop. You're half way there!

 I AGREE WITH YOU! Huh????confuse

Anyway, there was a sticker on my 32" LED TV that stated it would cost $6.50 annually to run my TV, based on 5 hours of usage per day!!!! These TVs draw next to nothing power wise and are ideal for a solar powered system!

 DVD player ?? That's so 2005 !!biggrinbiggrin

Most TV's today have USB capabilities, and a 32Gig memory stick will hold 20-25 movies. DVD and CD players should all be in the recycle bin IMO.

The Rv has a solar panel built in that helps to keep the batterys charged..I do have a 110 lcd tv but I want a 12volt one..I have been told they draw a lot less than using a110 and an inverter..It has a 4000w genny but I realy don't want to have to run the genny  just to watch the tube at night if I can find a 12 volt..with a dvd built in..They got em in all motor homes..the old big tube turkey that's in there is 12volt but it also has a VCR in it and I don't want to take a trunk full of movies when were traveling..I can pack 3 to 400 dvds in my shorts ..I know I can order one, but I was just putting it out there as I know there are some RV guys on here that might lead me someplace safe...

I know, but Fatchuk is really old and probably doesn't know too much about today's electronics !! LOL

Actually, I don't even think you can still buy TV's with DVD's built in. Not sure !!

The great thing about memory sticks, is all you need is the TV. No cords, players and extra remotes.

Yep! My $179 shop TV has the USB option. I sometimes run a slide show with 5500 pics of old school hot rods while listening to commercial free satellite tunes!

Janice.. It will be 53 years for us this Aug..She say,s I was one dumb sumbitch dog to train and I still need reproving daily..I used to be the boss, I have no idea when that changed.. I just knew one day that she was telling me what and when we would be doing and it's been downhill ever since smile. I TRIED  to resist but in the end it was easier to just submit..I learned to became a submissive husband it has more peaceful and I get to go and play when-ever I want ..I think that's because she knows I am to damn old to be any harm to any-one....

Hey Chuck; We really need to get together so I can show you how to "view"(download) the proper movie formats that will work on your TV. You'll throw all your DVDs in the garbage afterwards.

Bata?? WTF does your shoes have to do with anything?? If you're talking "BETA", then that's a whole different subject. Actually, BETA was a much superior system to VHS, but for some reason became the standard.

If you have a "smart" TV, i'm sure it will have USB. Even non-smart TVs have USB now. What model TV do you have?

Samsung..Smart TV..I have never looked to see if it has a USB drive I will have to look..I think that's it..My old girl is the T.V alcoholic here..I really never watch that T.V. I have an old LG in my cave that's the only One I watch ..I do not like the dumb shows she watches..ncis..icns, criminal minds, murder she wrote and any other of those police type shows ..I am a history, science, and or news junky..I do not like those dumb azz car shows..some picker shows, that ricks restorations, and some pawn stars shows..are more to my liking..
