5 on 5" rotor hat.

Does anyone in the southern Ontario area, have a used / scrap, 5 bolt on 5" rotor kicking around. I need one to make a drill guide to change the bolt pattern on the hot rod. Drum would work too, but would prefer a brake rotor. Will post how I did it when its finished.

Thankx

Thanks Ed. I will try to figure out how to get down my way (south of Brantford) if I don't find anything closer. I'll let you know. Cheers

Hey Scot, I can machine you a drill template with the proper  diameter holes. Are you going to Lindsay or Stirling??

 Dan, that would be great but I am busy this time of year getting ready to plant and actually planting when the rain stops. Got over an inch and 1/4 today alone. If anyone else local was going to Stirling you could pass it of to them. I am going from 5 on 5 to 5 on 4.75 to match the front end. Would need the 5 on 5 pattern with one other  hole dialed in at 4.75" I'm sure you already knew that though. I have a 1/2" bushing and a 1/4" bushing with 1/2" O.D. to slid into the 1/2" bushing for the initial pilot hole. (To keep drill bit straight and true) Will tack on the 1/2" bushing to whatever I end up with.

Really appreciate the offer Dan. Same as Ed, just need to figure out how to get it down here to the "banana belt"

 Dave, I am going from 5 on 5 to 5 on 4.75.  If you can find it let me know. Are you local to the Brantford area at all? PM if you like. Thanks

Take them to the local high school machine shop , they should have an indexing head and a mill. Let the smarter kids drill them for you, I used to do mag wheels like they were going out of style in grade eleven ,twelve..

chris is right, I wouldn't hand drill something like that, especially if the rim is supported by the wheel nuts.  I did a set of rims by hand using a rotor in that fashion, they needed a lot of filing after I drilled them but the rims were hub centric supported so the wheel nuts just held the rim on the hub.  an indexing chuck will be dead on precise

My template/drill guide is a turned down Caprice rotor. I used them as a hub when doing big brake conversions on B-bodies. Was used to put a 5x5 bolt pattern in a 13" Corvette rotor hat that was 5x4.75. The rotor hat and wheel remained hub centric.

It may or may not be what you are looking for, but unfortunately a quick look revealed that it is not where I thought it was so I can't confirm that I still have it. no

OK, just clarify what you're doing;
You want to redrill your rear axles to a 4.75 dia. (probably Ford truck 9")
Do you have a pilot hole in the axle? If so, is there enough room to redrill?
Will you be removing the axles when you redrill? trying to drill them on the car will give you grief. Spend the extra hour and pull them out. This can be done on a drill press with excellent results.A standard knee mill cant redrill axles BTW.
Will you be using pressed in wheel studs, or do you plan on tapping 1/2-20 ?
What size diameter is the center hub?

I've made these drill jigs before from 1/4" thick aluminum and they work great. What I do is machine the bolt circle you want and the hub diameter. That's all you need !!Forget about putting the 5 on 5 holes in it too. I remove all the original studs then place the drill jig on locating it by the hub. For the first hole, I use a clamp to hold the jig. Once the first hole is drilled, I place a 1/2 bolt through it and tighten. The other 4 holes can now be drilled.

All I really need before I can make one is your hub diameter. PM me your address, and I can ship it to you.
