Anyone ever drove a hurst ramrod inline shifter on the street. Im thinking about using it on my truck but not sure if it will work with a bench seat or not. Im wondering how it would be on the street. Are they strickly for drag racing or could it be used on the street? Maybe more work then its worth? Anyone with experience with these please help. Lol
my uncle had one in his 62 chev for racing, I asked him many years ago if it could be used on the street, he said it would suck to drive for normal use. his opinion but I can imagine it wouldn't be handy.
Hey brother....I'm going on 35 years with a Hurst Ram Rod shifter in my 55 Chevy.......once you master the feel of them you'll love it, not to mention how cool they look....lol. I wouldn't go back to a conventional 4 speed shifter. I did notch my bench seat all those years ago for it to work......best of luck.
my big block 396 and 427 chevelle had one . I think the only problem is down shifting , I,m going back to 1980 here , but don't you have to pull a lever up to downshift ??. I seem to remember downshift on a bumpy road is hard , tricky , but the cool factor is very high . hot rod posers an posiere,s will look at the shifter an be like wtf is that for ha ha ..77.

Yes it has a lever that you pull up to downshift and a seperate shifter for reverse. My bench needs to be recovered anyway. I might just mount it and see how it fits with the bench. My ricer buddy had it on his wall and didnt know what it was. I think Id get used to it eventually. And it is cool as hell lol
Too funny.....that all you lads had issues with a Ram Rod when myself and few other friends have been running Ram Rods for over 30 years on the street and the strip.....lol......as they say "if you can , you can...if you can't, you can't........still love that shifter. All the best to you.
