Econoline Newby...

Just purchased a '65 Econoline pickup.  At first sight, my wife named it "Fugly"....no idea how she came up with that moniker ...

It's a rare California "Spring Special" with the nifty chrome side trim, 5 windows, and a very rare factory C4.  The engine is so lame, that I had to look underneath to see if maybe the rubber band wasn't wound tight enough!  Now looking for a mild 302 to shoehorn into a very tight doghouse.

Need some American Racing "Torq Thrust" wheels to keep a bit of old school flavour.  Of course, it's one of those 'survivor' type vehicles...needs nothing, but needs everything. Will be looking for good but reasonable body/ paint shops in the area, along with someone to create a cool interior.

We live near Sauble Beach, so maybe next season I'll see some of you at one of the big shows up this way (Sauble Sandfest and Pumpkinfest in Port Elgin)

BTW: It came with a lovely (!) camper back that appears to be actually designed for it.   bleh  First one here with a case of beer can have it !

Oscar

Welcome from Niagara Falls. Will probably see you at Sand Fest or on one of the cruise nights. Daughter has a cottage at Sauble, walking distance to main st. She owes me some "down time".

There: Now you know I own the ugliest truck in Canada. If you feel sorry for me, don't forget about my TorqFlo wheel search.
Now, wait until you see it finished.... Hope somebody wants that lovely camper top. :)

I don't find that camper terribly offensive, and it sure beats paying motel rates lol.

Greetings from Trenton!

Here is a link that you might be interested in. econolineid.com

Enter your data plate info and it will tell you all about your truck. Will also tell you if it really is a Spring Special, or if somebody added the trim afterwards.

As for installing ANY other seats into your truck, just remember that the passenger seat is narrower than the drivers seat.

For parts, www.macsautoparts.com has a few things available.

Also, when you remove the dog house for the 5.0 swap, take a look at the floor on the pass' side rear. The VIN is stamped into the floor. VIN is also stamped into the diagonal brace where the spare tire mounts. Some had them had it stamped into the diagonal brace above the fuel filler neck.
