good one! listening to the pressure valve on the old girl makes you wonder when the rivets are going to fly.

Those old steam tractors are plain and simply cool pieces of engineering. Great video find, thank you for posting it.

Horsepower is just a number, torque is what gets you moving and that steam engine has a ton of it. Cool video.

the funny part was the tractor probably has a sbc in it an the guy had a helmet on like he was gonna be in a race or something . The steam engine guys were dressed for going for a ride . Its a steam engine dude , If it gets traction it will drag you into eternity at its own pace ..77.

That's the thing I noticed about the steam tractor. It didn't dig itself half way to China like the Deere did. It just pulled along as if nothing was behind it

It was an unfair fight! That draw bar would have to be level for it to be an honest contest. The John Deer was pulling down on the steamer, giving him more traction. The steamer was pulling weight off the rear of the Deer causing catastrophic loss of traction. I've seen this same senerio played over and over on various 4x4 videos over the years. The truck with the taller hitch point ALWAYS wins!!!! Re-watch the video to see what I'm talking about.

I'm not saying the steamer still wouldn't have pulled it, but you've got to at least make it fair. Some of those 4x4 vids have an inferior POS dragging a superior rig all around a field, only winning simply because of physics.
