We all know the horror stories involved crossing the border. stupid questions , insults etc etc . . I,ll be travelling State side soon to a drag race event . Being that my old lady works some times up to 3 jobs , during the week . when we are at drag events there is axeually a lotta walking for the woman , from the pits to the stands , to the food shack , to the can . And back to the pits . So I picked up an el cheeeeeeepo lil Chinese knock off atv . my question is , I never thot much about it , just bought it , there,s no ownership .
for crossing the border should I try an get one for it ??. or can you just claim it at the border ??. Man I didn,t think of it till just today . they ask for ownership for drag car , trailer , and tow vehicle , the atv has a serial number , but I,mnot even really shure what brand it is , ha ha , it say leipai on the key ??..
Just about every time I cross with my drag car , once a yr , for the last five yrs , same week end , they ask , are you going to sell this car while your in America . I feel like saying , ya know you ask me every time , if I took it too states 5 yrs in a row an it hadn,t sold . I think I,d a phucing gave up by now an stop taking it .. Morons.
I,ve heard that you can claim equipment an tools an stuff when your crossing to States . You have to sign for it , then sign it back into the country when you cross back over .
What do you guys think . I,m gonna try to get into licence office and ask them , just to be safe . ..77.

You need to get some kind of proof of ownership. Border is one place that they will just take it and it's up to you to prove them wrong. I would get a ownership just to avoid the hassle.
Yea that's what I,m thinking . I,m going to licence office Tuesday . I only paid 120 bucks for it , and didn,t think about it going out of the country at the time . So I wasn,t concerned about any paper work ..77.

years ago in my trucking era you probably would be alright making a declaration with the vin # on the canadian side with just a bill of sale. present the declaration on the u-s side and go. back then it was more for the tax's coming home if they thought you bought it down there. today i would want the ownership, i'm thinking.
Anytime I have crossed the border with something of value I stop Canadian Side Customs and geta Declaration Card.
They inspect the item, write down the serial number make and model. And give you a green card with the info and stamp. Proceed to the USA. When returning, if they ask....did ya buy the ATV...no sir/miss Here is my declaration card....
and your ok
Takes as long to do as the line up at Tim Hortins and will save you grief if not having it seized

well it has a serial number sticker up on the neck of the frame . The woman is off Tuesday , I,m sending her in to see about an ownyship . an just put it in her name cause its hers any ways .
with all these border crossing horror stories , better to be on the legit side , and keep all those high school slash cop school drop outs , border cops POS,s happy . if it can,t be reggied I,ll declare it at crossing ..77.
