If I remember correctly Alberta doesn't have registrations for old vehicles. The Dmv should Know this and just process it with the bill of sale.

My car was also from Saskatchewan with no ownership and didn't come up on the Ontario registry. If I recall I had to sign an affidavit at the ministry office, put my hand on a bible and swear that the info I gave them was the truth. Oh, and $30 cash only !!

I already gave Bill the skinny on requirements when the vehicle is in Ontario ,same event as what I had to do when Fatstax bought the cabover from me... Hoops and dollars re all that's required,lol...Affadavit, appraisal from a licenced Ontario car dealer, original bill of sale and a serial number that isn't already registered in Ontario... Easy ,breezy, cover girl!

Ahh !! I forgot that you need an appraisal now. When I registered my car back in 04, it was not needed.

What are you waiting for Joe?

Get that thing in your name now before you have to pay full taxes on the appraised value of a completed vehicle. wink wink

I went through same thing with my Pontiac. Dmv wouldn't accept bill of sale, got an affidavit from lawyer still no go. Took me 3 months from dealer in Calgary to get an ownership , now is in my name . they have ownerships in Alberta but because of privacy laws there they don't have to give them up or sign them over to new owner. I even talked to the Alberta dmv and they couldn't help me . I came close to buying an ownership.

I brought my T coupe here from Saskatoon with just a bill of sale. The "Service Ontario " office wanted something faxed from Saskatchewan saying the car wasn't stolen and no outstanding liens. The very helpful guy in the office in Saskatoon took care of that with just a phone call from me and no charge.
