I was there , I thought the crowd was thin..did not seem to be very many there, or they left before I got there..Never did make it to the swap part, mostly sat in the stands listening and smelling burning rubber.. I think it has been about 50 years since I raced at that track..the bleacher sets and walkways are totaly rotten and unsafe to wallk on or  to sit, they definitly need some serious repair..but It sure brought back a lot memories from time gone past..I also remember when you could hardly get in there the crowd was backed up for 1/2 a mile down the road.. I had no line up and the pits were pretty empty..I was parked right in front of Chris Stapleys 58 but I never ran into any of the Elta bros there ..never seen anybody...but I still have the burning rubber in my nostrils...confuse biggrin

Yep, most that were there for the swap meet were gone before the first burnout took place, I left for Paris around 11:15 after scoring a couple of good deals - top secret deals. Shhhh.

As for the rest of the ELTA guys, something going down in Windsor town I think. Although |I saw Brother Glenn at the Unfinished Nationals.

Hey Chuck and Steve...I know the ELTA brothers would have been there but this was Shakers Reunion in Windsor with all the old Detroit and Windsor car clubs and drag racers that the old Shakers C.C. have been putting on for the last 35+ years.....a must event for us. We wanted to be there to support the swap meet......just too bad of the over lap in dates........but good to hear a few of ya were out there supporting a good cause.

Lets see, about 1000 boards @ about $22 each= Get your wallet out.                       We are fully aware they need replacing.            Thanks for the positive comment.

JPB.. the comment was not meant to be anything other than the what it is..So don't get your shorts in a knot..It was not a an attack by any stretch....What's your problem???So don't be an A$$hole and turn it something it wasn't... I spent many week-ends at that track back in the sixties and had not been there in many years , I took my wife out Sunday to show support and my comment was not meant to be a negative comment..Just a fact..So lets not get our nose out of joint and get all Pissy..Can nobody say anything without somebody having to turn it into a pissing contest...Jeesh..get a life and don't be so sensitive..disbelief disbelief disbelief disbelief disbelief disbelief disbelief disbelief disbelief confuse confuse confuse

Lets see, about one lawsuit of buddy falling through boards and breaking leg, arm, shoulder........@ $100,000 + =  Get you wallet out

I could use the cash....and the summer off !!!!!!!!!

Being "Fully Aware" makes you even more liable

I doubt the stands are filled every weekend.....even though they should be.....I would start with about 200 boards @ $4,400 = cheap insurance, and fix the worst......first

It would be a shame to lose a great track because of insurance claims raise the cost of insurance to the level that the track would close

Just sayin

I was there (after a stint in Paris in the am) with my Delray. Shawn and Dan (also ELTA brothers) were there piloting their respective altereds down the track. That's 3 Disciples representing the ELTA and supporting the track. Was a good day. Lots of great race cars. Awesome weather.

I have no problem, not trying to be an A$$hole.I promote the strip because it was the 1st place I took my 1st car.I worked for the original owners, the Harvey's and now I am doing what I can to help keep the place going. Of all the car forums I am on to promote the place ,you are the only one who has indicated the condition of the bleachers.I know it was not meant as negative but does not help,

So I'm a bad guy for pointing out a serious safety hazard .. I guess it would be better for somebody's kid to fall and get seriously hurt or maybe you think just signing a waiver that I come in at my own risk should cover it...Sorry John..I had no intention when I made my first post that I was making any kind of negative comment until you blew it up into something and then blew it out of proportion..and made a big deal out it..Big deal, I was the only one that commented on the bleachers..I was there for a good three hrs and there was only about 6 people in the bleachers..I had a good show and enjoyed my day till you spoiled for me..But never fear..If you are that touchy about the track..I won't be bothered to be back..there are a hundred other places I can spend my money on the week-ends at car things with car people who don't have a bur up their butt... Thanks for such an informative post..Have a great summer ...cry

I,ll bend.Okay maybe I came off too hard. I should have asked 'what side were you on,the east nearest the swap meet?'  I saw Stapley's '58,did not see your car.

What side were you and the Mrs. on?

Hang on a sec...are we confusing "Chris Stapley's" 58 with my 58? I didn't see Mr Stapley's car there, but then, I never did make it to the swap meet are.

Kudos to John for holding fatchuk accountable for negative comments.I am always greeted at the gate with a friendly smile. The concessions & washrooms are clean. This is the only dragstrip where the pits are like a park. The staff are helpful & accomadating. The people at St Thomas have been working tirelessly to make the facility enjoyable for racers & fans alike. All this & all fatchuk can do is make negative comments about the bleachers & walkways. Instead of being an internet hero why don't you talk to the people at the track before you post online. By the way I think you got it wrong about who is the *******.

Thanks for the intro Dan, Awffully nice of you to join the ontario rodders

And your very first post is calling one of our members an a$$hole.

For stating a fact which by the way was also backed up by one of your own racers

that your bleachers are a piece of $hit in desperate need of repair

Well danweld..

welcome to the board.. Nice to share your intro..  I guess, I gota just say it one more time for those who are unable to read and comprehend english.. My comment was not negative ..get it..let me say it slower for you ..my...comment...was...not...negative... do I need to repeat that .. I too was greeted with a big friendly smile at the gate and the pits are very nice they were clean the washrooms were very clean..I never had any issue with the staff...the day was great..I enjoyed the racing..

But I did say the bleachers were were unsafe..period..they are unsafe.. very unsafe..My wife very near fell through a plank..They should be either blocked off or at least some areas should be in the interest of saftey ..I think that would be the responsible thing to do if you expect to have familys there..This was never meant to be a pissing contest untill you and JPB escalated  it to a major pissing match..it was not nessacary to do that ..I just told the truth.. and did not ever mean to offend ..You need to grow some balls..

Thanks for your great intro..and friendly first post ..and postive comment..I mean after critizing me  with a personal attack and negative comments ,obviously you have some personal complex of some kind to think or feel that anything I said could be construed as negative in my post..It would be a great benifit to you if you could just take a minut and read what I said..Somehow you just got all pissy and read what you wanted to read..So don't come on here with your first post and start calling me names ..like an internet hero..What's the deal with that why do you feel the need to come on here first post and start name calling..If you have a problem with something I said  why not just send me a PM and we can discuss it like adults..it' really is too bad that that if anybody says anything and others have make something out it that just was never there..I can't for the life of me figure how this thread came to all this crap..

Anyway you can have the place ..If I have to worry that every Sunday when I came home from the track and post anything your going to have a gang of people trying to make sure nobody says anything about the track..please don't worry about me..I went out with good intentions ,took my wife and my pup out to enjoy a day at the races show my support with my money..and all I said was the bleachers were unsafe..AM I WRONG ??????? WOULD YOU PLEASE TELL ME THAT THEY ARE SAFE !!!! AND IN GOOD ENOUGH CONDITION  TO BRING MY FAMILY.. Yeah I did n't think so..This should not be a big deal except for your post..I was just trying to let quiet down..as I never fking meant anything negative..So mr Dan you can kiss the dark side of my wheelwell..I wont be spending any money or time at that track..to bad they got somebody like you speaking on their behalf..you have some pretty bad PR skills..

Just for your information I had a fine day..but yes the bleachers are unsafe..they are ..but I guess you just don't want anybody to say it..thats fine untill somebody takes a serious fall and gets hurt and then I hope they sue your a$$ off mr Dan...but I would much rather that nobody gets hurt that would be my preference being an internet hero.. and all..no disbelief
