Not trying to justify what buddy did But what part of this statement applies to a 62 Impala . Modern cars you get water over the door sills and you may as well crush it because they mount everything on the floor or low.

“Flood damaged vehicles are extremely unsafe and cannot be repaired,” police said in a statement. “Water damages a vehicle’s electrical components including its airbags, antilock brake system, stability control, heating and cooling systems and even its braking, acceleration and steering.

The car pictured above is also from Calgary Alberta.  This car (million dollar modified Ferrari Enzo) crashed during the Targa Newfoundland event two years ago.  Not only was it, at one point, almost completely submerged, it was in SALT water.  It has since been totally rebuilt (the owner of the car also owns ZR Auto in Calgary) and is once again being driven.  Based on this cops opinion of the laws regarding flood damaged cars, it sounds like the cop believes this car should have been written off without any chance of being returned to the road.

The real issue is probably the VIN swapping (and forged paperwork involved in the VIN swap), but it's interesting that the cop (who also claims to be a car guy) believes a flood damaged car can never be fixed.

Figures.. What has happened to our cops..I used to have a lot more respect for them than I have anymore..They have a lot of bullys and thugs that are way over paid and I think they have too much power and think they are entitled to special privileges ..maybe justified ..I don't know, but I know I have very little respect for cops anymore ..Even less after seeing the OPPa ads they are putting out in this election to make sure they give up anything during the tough economic times..They have made no bones they support the liberals..who are controlled by public sector unions..driving us into bankruptcy...

 That is the problem, but with the laws the way they are in this case, a car that could be rebuilt cant be rebuilt....Even a new car could be totally rebuilt to be safe again, new wiring and all accessories. 

As for the police thing, they are just applying the laws in this case. They dont make the laws, just apply them. I know there are some problems with police, just as there are problems with any profession....there are good and there are bad.....Also, we dont need to get into personal attacks about it
