Watching the news on CTV the other day about how a greater number of seniors are returning to the work force at ages of 65 to 70 just to supplement their income and our government is still pouring money into other countries, think it's about time we let the gov.t know we're not to happy about the way our own seniors have to face poverty in our own country, that's my opinion.

In the last few years we have provided direct cash aid to: Hamas - 351 M, Pakistan- 2 B, Libya 1.45 B, Egypt- 397 M, Mexico- 622 M, Russia- 380 M, Haiti- 1.4 B, Jordan- 463 M, Kenya- 816 M, Sudan- 870 M, Nigeria- 456 M, Uganda- 451 M, Congo- 359 M, Ethiopia- 981 M, South Afrika- 566 M, Senegal- 698 M, Mozambique- 404 M, Zambia- 331 M, Kazakhstan- 304 M, Iraq- 1.08 B, Tanzania- 554 M, With literally Billions and they still hate us! In total Canada spends over 5 Billion a year on direct cash support of foreign aid, and 20 Billion on Immigration & Refugee programs
Our retired seniors are living on a 'fixed income'. Do they get any breaks while our government and religious organizations pour hundreds of billions and tons of food to foreign countries!
We have hundreds of adoptable children who are shoved aside to make room for the adoption of foreign orphans.
AUSTRALIA, UK, THE USA & CANADA - countries where we have homeless people. children going to bed hungry, elderly going without needed medication and mentally ill without treatment... Etc.
YET- We still allow illegals & other free loaders on our shores, while we are lining up with food, clothes, bedding, doctors and medical supplies for them. Imagine if the "GOVERNMENT" gave 'US' the same support they give to other countries.
even costlier if you factor in all the lobbyists and special interest groups that arrange most of this. just not enough profit to be had through graft and bribery for looking after domestic needs.

It is a sad state of affairs when our so called Gov,t. spends so much of our hard earned money to boost their image around the world while people in Canada suffer with hunger, housing and health problems of our own and all we can look forward to are more of the same, no matter which party is in power. I say charity begins at home, look after your own and then look overseas.
I think I know the answer to that one.. look at the results of the 4 by-elections that took place yesterday..what did they have a 15% and 19% voter turn out.. pretty obvious to me why they don't care much about that few of voters..Hell if 80% of the country doesn't care about Canada why would we expect them to ............
Pretty sad when we have a hundred thousand people turn out to support a Gay & Lesbian parade In Hog-Town..and Our elected Premier is a leader in the parade with a digusting display of brazen perverted sexuality and the chief of police is marching in the parade..Can't hardly get that many out to vote..What's left of the Canada to proud of...and Our provincial Government has so generously donated $600,000 to support the Gay parade..What a great thing to take your children to for the day to watch a bunch of sick sexual deviants making obcene acts of a sexual nature on floats parading through the city..how disgusting is that..guess I am just a proud homophobic..

ONE REALLY BAD THING IS THAT A GREAT MANY SENIORS HAVE NO INTERNET TO RECEIVE EMAILS LIKE THIS ONE, SO SNAIL MAIL AND TELEPHONE ARE ALSO NEEDED...
On top of all this stuff that you can read below I would like to state that I was NOT OPPOSED to the Canadian Government donating as a gift a blanket to Prince George BUT I do have a hard time understanding the government donating $100,000. to a children's charity in England while people in High River and seniors are struggling to stay a float. Doesn't make sense to me. Where in the world did the government come up with this money and WHY.

POLITICIANS PAY ATTENTION! The Harper government is saying that at this moment they cannot afford to make changes to the C.P.P.
They are also saying that seniors will have to start paying for med's and health care after age 65 because of the strain on the system.
I think that it is time that we let him know what we think ......
CANADA: a country where we have:
…. homeless without shelter, …. children going to bed hungry, …. hospitals being closed, …. average income families who can't afford dental care, …. elderly going without 'needed' med's and having to travel 100's of miles for medical care with no ......reimbursement of cost, …. vehicles we can't afford gas for, …. lack of affordable housing, …. mentally ill without treatment, etc.,etc.
YET..... They have a 'Benefit' for the people of Haiti, ships andplanes lining up with food, water, tents, clothes, bedding, doctors, and medical supplies. What the HECK is wrong with us??? ……

In the last few months we have provided aid to Haiti , Chile , and Turkey , as well as Kazakhstan , Pakistan and all the others - literally, BILLIONS of OUR dollars!!
Imagine if the GOVERNMENT gave 'US' the same support they give to other countries.
Our retired seniors living on a 'fixed income' receive no aid nor do they get any breaks while our government and religious organizations pour hundreds of millions of dollars and tons of food into Foreign Countries! They call Old Age Security and Healthcare an entitlement even though most of us have been paying for it all our working lives and now when IT'S time for us to collect, the government is running out of money ? Why did the government borrow from these programs in the first place?
Entitlement my Ass, I paid cash for my Old Age Security and C.P.P.!!!! Just because they borrowed money from these programs, doesn't make my benefits some kind of charity or handout!
Gold plated MP pensions and benefits, a.k.a. free healthcare, outrageous retirement packages, 67 paid holidays, 20 weeks paid vacation, unlimited paid sick days --- now that's welfare, and they have the nerve to call me a 'greedy senior' and my retirement, an entitlement.
Sad isn't it?
Lets hope it creates awareness!
DO YOUR PART! Things will only change when this kind of email translates into voting results at the polls.
As of today, seniors out number ANY OTHER type of voter even by race, religion, or age group.
WHEN ARE SENIORS going wake up and understand

I'm beaming with pride for this country. Lived here 99% of my life and I couldn't be happier with what this country has become. Probably the most tolerant and inclusive country in the world. We have one of the best economies and strongest banking systems there are. And we are celebrated and admired by most as one of the best countries to live in.

I'm proud to be a Canadian and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Yes we have our problems and voter apathy is a main one. On practicaly every survey Canada is in the top ten. Happy birthday Canada.
