I just put up a post looking for a couple of carbs.
Question is, I had originally wanted to use a couple of Predator carbs and have them already. Has anyone had any experience with these, setting them up etc?
I don't want to re-invent the wheel, just wanted something different.
Never tried them on a blower. I believe though the original predator design was developed at CRM (Canadian Racing Motors) back in the late 60s. I remember the article on that design in Hot Rod or one of those with a big Door knob in the same picture. Then they took them south and stamped a sick bird on them (EEEG ILL) In pairs AFBs and their derivatives are always great. Holleys are always good as well. Used to rework the power valve (or power Piston for AFBs) when used in a blown application. Otherwise the constant pull from the blower can pull the power valve shut or in the case of AFBs the power piston down and lean out the mixture just when you want the opposite to happen. With Holleys we used to just put in a power valve Blank and up the jetting 4 to compensate and then jet from there to what it likes. don

Fortunately for most of us nonconformists even when we use normal parts it comes out different.
I remember once being at a cruise night in Belleville. I had gone into CTC store for something and was walking back to me car at the lower end of the lot where the cruise in was. I noticed a fellow ahead of me whom I had not seen for probably 15 years. He walked up to the open hood of my Max Wedge powered 63 Dodge and I heard him say to the crowd. That car can only belong to one person. "Dulmage" I had to grin. Later I asked, "How did you know John?" "Simple" , he replied, "No chrome!"
So don't worry I am sure your style comes through the same whatever you build.

I don't think you got an answer to your question. Contact Predator Carbs at this address for tech info and parts. www.predatorperformanceproducts.com/ My son wants to run 2 on his '27 roadster sbc. Only real challenge so far is the T.V. cable mount for 700r4. One of our Predators was on my buddy's 514 inch Caddy in a 7500 lb 1967 Chevy Hot Rod School Bus. It ran 16.51 at St. Thomas. That's quicker than ANY factory Cadillac with 500/472 and weighed 2000 lbs more! The Predator well out-performed the 800 Q-Jet.
Just Do It! You won't be sorry. Run good fuel filters, 5 microns, (Summit G1512 FF601HP). Use 3/8 fuel Line NOT neoprene, use the new line for fuel containing ethanol (Goodyear Hysunite). Use Ethanol neutralizer, there are several.
One last thing. Get one of those decals, for the dash, that reads "Get in, Sit Down, Shut up and HOLD ON!
I just took a quick look. FRNKNSTN, I guess you know a bit about 1/4 Pounding. Have Fun! the Kid

Thanks Gwilly (inside joke for us Bradfordtonians).
Sounds like you have a little experience running Predators, might have to pick your brain a little on how to get going and set them up. I was wavering on switching over to carbs (which I hate) but you have given me hope that this might work.
I did a little racing a few years ago, got away from carbs then, went to injected pieces, much easier to understand. I look at the Predator as being ultra easy, but everyone tells you different.
I've had these for about eight or nine years, been sitting on a shelf since then.
One was new 'in the box' and the other was ran on some type of drag car, but not sure which one....don't remember anymore.
Frnknstn, Several years ago we contacted Predator, getting stuff for the 1 carb. They have the stuff to match 2 Predators up for a twin carb setup. As you know Predators are a variable venturi/ avs carb.
Their kits and stuff is very affordable.
Therefore, on the street, one or 2 Predators are very manageable. If you are running a manual trans, or an Auto Trans w/o TV cable you are on easy street.
Always remember, Monster trucks run/ran Predators and stood them up on the rear bumpers, bouncing all over the place, never missing a beat.
Cruise night in Gwillyville (Bradford) Friday night, I will be there with yellow T bucket.
We can bench race. Bring your best stuff, my lawn chair will run 9's.
