Just got my latest R&C magazine (Oct 2014) and they have announced it's the last issue. Apparently STREET RODDER magazine will be picking up the slack and carrying on with the on going stories already started. Not sure what happens after they get completed. R&C and STREET RODDER were the only two magazines I still subscribed to as they addressed the style of cars and rods I favoured. This is the third time the title has come to the end of the road, this time through the sale and belt tightening of a new owner. Well crap...that bites.
Good thing I didn't renew my subscription, I thought the mag had been going down hill for years.
Got tired of "look at the old timey stuff"
Wow, wasn't the past great. Sorry, don't mind looking at the past sometimes but every month gets tiring.

I liked it! Not enough to subscribe but I always flipped through it at the news stand, bought a few copies per year if there was a great tech article or outstanding feature.

I really enjoyed R&C, for years. Subscribed for years. I'm pretty disappointed that keeping the Corporate investors shares as high as possible is more important than the readers that choose to buy the product.
Rolling R&C into Street Rodder is a small consolation, and better than completely shutting it down. For many years I have been recommending that people entering into our hobby buy R&C, Street Rodder & Hot Rod. All are/were excellent sources of relevant information for building a hot rod.
We had Rodders Digest, a wonderful magazine, that got absorbed Buckaroo Communications, who eventually shut down. Excellent writers and information. John Dianna was a real car guy. Never really heard what caused that complete shutdown. I see Gerry Burger writes for Street Rodder. More reasons to get S/R.
Hey, maybe R&C and RD will rise from the ashes as a Rodding Phoenix.

The lights are slowly going out on the past. This is a new century with electronic gadgets replacing common sense and physical movement. Let us enjoy what we have left and keep the memory alive. Drive'em, don't park'em!!!!!
Someday the only rodder mag available will be Canadian Rodder. Even though many are being phased out some have been revived. Chrysler Power who I wrote for for several years is back up and going (and so am I) I liked the little version some of the mags put out too. Being old and rusty I always enjoy the nostalgia stuff although I have a jag 6 and a blower sitting in the shop as well. Getting to old to do anything with it but I acquired them in a deal a few years back and just don't want to give them away. Probably should sell the jag engine and trans.
I agree with the idea that corporate bozos are too motivated to extreme profit. No one should lose money for sure but profit and especially consistent profit is nothing to be sneezed at. If a mag is sustainable and making some gold it should be left going. Problem is the corporate bozos who make those decision don't have any idea about what the mag is about and why it should be left going. Somewhere between 1960s and last week the nerds took over. How did we let that happen? I have read R&C off and on since my early teens. Even have a few of the current year's issues. Tis a shame to see it die.
